Sri Petaling’s Chicken Nest Bun
I know that’s a pretty weird direct translation of 鸡窝包 Kai Wo Bao but that’s the best I can come up with. Ha!
It was around 2am when I was talking to Hung Wei on MSN when I felt hungry. Recalling that he told me there was this dim sum shop that sells Kai Woh Bao and operates throughout the night, I decided to grab Ah Kit to go along with us.

Hiew later joined us at the restaurant, as he came from his work place at Section 13.

Upon reaching the restaurant, I whipped out my FZ30 to start taking pictures, only to realize that I left my battery charging at home. Well, thanks to Hung Wei’s Alpha 100, I still have some pictures to use for this post.
I ordered some dim sums which I wouldn’t recommend at all. A little tasteless and some of them even tasted weird.

Out of curiosity, I ordered their 窝仔包 Woh Zhai Bao, which was basically a soft brown cake, with a little bit of sweet barbecued pork at the bottom and then wrapped with a bun. Nothing special either. RM2 per bun.

Finally, their famous signature bun, 鸡窝包 Kai Wo Bao. Basically, its a bun with glutinous rice inside. The glutinous rice tasted pretty much like the normal chicken glutinous rice 糯米鸡 Loh Mai Kai, but this one had more meat, mushrooms, lotus seed and other fillings. There were thick and fully seasoned gravy in it as well, sipping into the inner layer of the bun. Hence, the flour wasn’t too dry. RM4.50 per bun.

With its operating hours from late evening until the next late morning, I am pretty sure now that we have another option if my brothers and I are hungry during the ungodly hour now.
