Just Another Dinner At Secret Recipe

It was just another same old boring Friday afternoon when Yih Tian stopped by my place so that I could format her notebook. By 6pm, her notebook is up and running perfectly. Together with my house mates, Raymond and Sanjev, we then adjourned to Jaya Jusco’s Secret Recipe for our dinner.

We placed our orders not too long after that and with each main course, it came with free ice-creams. However, you need to ask the waitress/waiter about the free ice cream though. They won’t give it unless you ask for it. The promotion would start from 6.30pm though.

I had mixed fruit yogurt drink, which has more banana than any other fruits. I didn’t really like it but it wasn’t that bad. Yih Tian had apple juice with kasturi (Asam?), which tasted really nice and refreshing. Heh! Not too sweet and has a sour taste to open up your appetites. Raymond and Sanjev had iced water.

The Tom Yam Kung of this particular Secret Recipe branch at Jaya Jusco just didn’t live up to its name of the award winning dish. It wasn’t spicy at all and food presentation was totally nil. Taste wise was still acceptable but it just ain’t cut for it. The big prawns were really big though.

Raymond had lasagna, one of my favourite foods in Secret Recipe because of its huge amount of beef and cheese. It came with a piece of bread and any additional bread could be ordered at the price of RM1 per piece. A definite choice for those who like meat and cheese. Beef tastes better than chicken though.

I had spaghetti with beef meat balls, which I enjoyed it a lot. The tomato sauce may tasted a little bland but the meat balls made up for it. It was piping hot when the spaghetti was served, as if the meat balls just came out from the pot of hot oil. The meat balls were on the dry side though. Firm on the inside, crunchy on the outside, chewy when its in your mouth.

We also ordered their award winning lamb shank to share among ourselves. However, I think this particular branch’s lamb shank totally sucks. The sauce was really nice, with chunks of garlics, onions and mushrooms but the lamb wasn’t tender and soft at all. We practically had to slice it off with our knives like a piece of lamb chop. Wrong. The mashed potatoes were yummy. Heh! It came with a piece of bread too.

Well, I wouldn’t recommend you to visit this particular Secret Recipe branch in Jusco. There are two more Secret Recipe branches in Malacca, one is in Malacca’s Tesco while the other one is at Melaka Raya. Overall, the dinner was still satisfying and normal, at least, it was something different from our usual dinner place at MMU Corner or Infasha.

Debbie : Haha! Been some time since I last chatted with you. Heh! Sweet dreams.

Simmy : Hi, Simmy! Enjoyed your lunch?

Babylar : Haha! It’s the pictures. It’s the illusions.

Kim Fei : How’s he doing? Good? Haven’t seen him for quite some time.

KitKat : I don’t think that should be the way as they are a franchise and their food should have all the same standard. They can taste better, but not worse than the minimum standard set by the HQ. That should be more like it, right?

    KLJS : LOL. Why so?

Stephanie : Prawn macaroni? Hmm… Never try that. Will check out. Thanks for the award, but I don’t do tags, usually. :P

Chingy : LOL. Serves you right for not waiting.
