Sushi Groove, Again
November 14th, 2007.
Categories: Eating...
Although my objective whenever I come to KL is to eat something different and try restaurants that I have never try previously, there are bound to be situations where I couldn’t think of anything new or there are no makan kakis to bring me around, I tend to visit the same old restaurants and places again.
And so, Sushi Groove was one of them. Since I have blogged about it before, do click on the link to read a more complete review eating experience at Sushi Groove.

It was my sister, Jamie’s lucky day that she called while May Gin and I were on our way to 1U. Being the kind and awfully nice brother, I went to pick her up so that she could join us for dinner.

We placed our orders and food was served in a nifty. First up, salmon sashimi. Fresh and tender, dipped with a little soy sauce mixed with wasabi. Nice! We also had the spicy beef hamburger, egg with rice. I ordered the same thing during my last visit too. Tasted pretty much the same still, a good sign that they maintain their standard and quality.

The curry chicken rice bibimbab came highly recommended by Nee and I placed my order for this dish the moment I sat down. Heh!
The rice was served with hot stone, burning the rice to create a slightly burned yet crispy “burned rice” (I am pretty sure there’s a specific name for it, but it slipped my mind.). Right in the middle of the rice was a raw egg and chicken cubes, which was meant to be mixed up together. On top of the rice was a kind of fish (柴鱼), that seem to be dancing / moving on top of the rice when it was served.
You need to stir them as soon as possible (before the rice gets too burned), hence, get your camera ready.

I can’t recall what was the sushi’s name but I think it was on the top ten favourites for September 2007. It has cili padis in it but I don’t think its spicy at all. The waiter recommended us this sushi and we bought it. Definitely worth trying out.

We also ordered Godzilla Roll, which was a plate of sushis with shrimps and mangoes, topped with cream cheese on top. Absolutely delicious. Although I couldn’t really taste the shrimp, the flavour and colour combination were unique and eye pleasing respectively.

And definitely, my unagis! I ♥ Unagi! Yes, that is also the name for their unagi sushi. I ♥ Unagi!

Heh!

Your entries make my mouth water. You know what makes the situation even worse? The fact that I cannot consume these scrumptious food you write about merely because i’m 20,000km away from home! Blasphemy…

Hey dude…
I belum try sushi king yet, one of my must go to places when i return to malaysia next time. But japanese food is widely available here in perth, and pricing wise very reasonable too.
Quality wise? Most of their kitchen staff are japanese.
But still, everyone in malaysia is raving about the sushi groove, so must try !! ahahahha

Then again, your delicious food blog makes me shrugs…. AHHH I wanna eat JAPANESE FOOD!!
P/S: Coming to KL again this Dec? I’m free, maybe can eat together. :D

Mochii : Haha. Did you like it?
Michelle : I love their unagis the most, nothing beats that! Heh! The godzilla roll wasn’t that bad either.
Lisa Yap : Oh! Hehe. I love unagis too!
Anthraxxxx : Close to RM100.
Chien : Awww… Looks like you have to wait until you come back Malaysia only you get to eat them. :P Drool at my pictures then. Haha!
Harry : I didn’t know about that. Haha! But they gave me a discount card though. Heh!
KLJS : Sushi King is nothing compared to Sushi Groove.
Melysa : Haha. For the mean time, enjoy your ginger wine chicken first. :P
Felicia : I smell sarcasm. Heh! It’s nice actually, really, not that bad, although a little bit dry. This isn’t new layout, it was a layout that I once used long time ago. Heh!
Sean : You are working, how come you are poor? :P
Robin : Don’t try Sushi King when you have other options like Sakae Sushi and Sushi Groove. They taste much much better anyway. Most of the kitchen staffs are Japanese doesn’t mean that Malaysians can’t make better sushis than Japanese. Ha! But yeah, they are the more original one. :P
CLF : Haha! Visit 1U to get your cravings satisfied then. Hmm, December? I don’t have any holidays, but I will let you know.

November 15th, 2007 11:38
Mama Bok : Don’t lah curse me like that. LOL. No wonder I got no girl friends.
Zthon : Yes, its a must try restaurant. It isn’t really a Japanese restaurant, more towards fusion with Japanese food as the base.
Superhero W : Heh! This template is old one, used some time back. Am fixing up a new template, soon.
Decypher : For the mean time. Am waiting for new designs to come in.

I tried this Sushi Groove before. Not really nice actually. Next time you can go for Shugon at One Utama too.. If you and your friends can eat a lot, will be worth it.
