J.Co Donuts & Coffee

There wasn’t any specific or concrete reason for me to come to KL this time, but I still came to KL just to chill out a few days with my buddies and get out from my room. Since I was already there, I took the opportunity to head down to Pavilion to try the J.Co donuts that created much hype in Malaysia and blogsphere lately.
I picked May Gin up at her residence near PJU and then headed down to city center. After missing a few junctions, U-turns and getting lost a little here and there, we reached Pavilion in one piece and unhurt. That was almost 1.5 hours later. -shy-
J.Co Donuts & Coffee.

I queued up while May Gin went to take a seat. The queue wasn’t as long as portrayed at some blogs as it was a weekday. Hence, it was roughly 10 minutes later I was served.

Not knowing what to take and knowing that their signature donut, “Glazzy” donut is free if you order a drink, I randomly picked three donuts – “Why Nut?”, “Oreology” and “AlCaponne”.

“Why Nut?” is American peanut with premium white chocolate as topping. You got to love the white chocolate topping.

“Oreology”, donut with oreo cookie powder(?) on top.

“AlCaponne”, white Belgian chocolate with crunchy California almonds.

“Glazzy”, donut coated with sweet honey. It came with my glass of iced lemon tea.

Honestly, these donuts are definitely better than Dunkin Donuts. It’s irresistible. After trying 4 of them on Thursday, I was already thinking of going back there the following day to get more of the donuts. The donuts are soft and spongy. Just the right amount and not too much of flour are used, which is a very common practice in other donuts. The donuts won’t give you a bloated feeling after that. It’s nice, really!
Gosh! I want to have my hands on these donuts again!

Sean : Will give you a call when I am in KL. However, you do know that donuts will become hard after sometime, right?
Jamie : You slowly wait.
Mama Bok : But these donuts are really delicious. Heh!
Jeremy : Pavilion, Bukit Bintang.
Alistair : Thanks for answering for me. ;)
Zthon : LOL. I think you should really head down to Pavilion and give J.Co donuts a try. Try visiting the outlet during weekday, early hours.

Hey hey!! I had JCo Donuts over the weekend too!!! But honestly, I didn’t quite like the texture of the dough…it’s a bit too gooey after a few bites, yet I’ll still maintain that it’s definitely better than Big Apple’s!

November 13th, 2007 11:00
really that good? suddenly everyone loves donuts now
November 13th, 2007 11:09
went to the shop after reading this. what a shame. doughnuts are terrible, shop is dirty, staff doesn’t know hygiene and customers are stupid enough to buy, let alone comsume. and this is all in one of the ‘latest and trendy’ mall in KL? have the authorities and their family and friends been too busy stuffing on donuts at home with their unlimited supply. thank god krispy kreme is not here, or else they will kick your butt, anytime, anywhere.
November 13th, 2007 12:15
Sbd18 : Guess I was just lucky. Heh!
Lee CS : Jakarta has Krispy Kreme also what! Heard that one is even better than J.Co as J.Co copies the idea from Crispy Creme. Heh! By the way, Dunkin Donut sucks.
June : *hands out tissues*
Chingy : Life is never fair. Ha!
Lisa Yap : Thanks for dropping by, Lisa. Heh! I’m not a fan of donuts, but these donuts are just delicious.
Zthon : Oh! My bad. Haha. Perhaps you should find some substitutes or maybe even make your own donuts! Ha!
Xin : It’s worth trying, but is it really that good, it’s up to you to decide. To me, its quite good though.
Fat Boy : Seems like you have issues with J.Co Donuts. Haha! Well, it’s your choice and opinion. Well appreciated. Yes, I heard J.Co Donuts copied Krispy Kreme and I would like to try it if I ever come across one. ;)
November 13th, 2007 13:28
Their doughnuts are soft. Well, there is always rumours saying this copy this and so on. C’mon, where on earth you don’t see people not copying others?
Soon, you will see more doughnuts stalls opening up under their own brand names and perhaps some of them might have the same flavours.
Krispy Kreme is more expensive than J.Co.
That is why the founder of J.Co. started this chain business up which target the wider range of consumers. :)
Just some thoughts and info I came across.

November 14th, 2007 00:27
Surfnux : No matter what, the consumers are always the biggest winners. Haha!
Shaz : Yes, I was in KL for a short while. Haha! Alright, give me a call and I shall meet you up.
Jian : Depends on what flavour you choose, some are just nice, some are a little sweet. Hehe.
November 24th, 2007 03:41
so finally j.co has come to town!! haha.
im currently studying in jakarta and there’s countless of j.co’s around here, practically in every malls they have 1 or 2 outlets. appearance wise, and maybe taste wise as well, i think the ones in jakarta are much better. it needs time to get better i guess, the one in kl’s relatively new right?
there are plenty of krispy kremes in jakarta too. to me, they both taste almost the same but krispy kremes are definitely much pricier.
November 24th, 2007 03:54
Peter : Yes, finally, it has invaded Malaysia. Hopefully they will get better and able to increase the supply. As for now, the demand far exceeds their supply, hence, the queue is really long. I heard Krispy Kreme’s targets are more towards the upper class, hence, the higher price tag. On top of that, they originated from the US.

January 6th, 2008 23:09

Eazy : Yeap, am living in Malaysia, Malacca, to be exact. There are a number of people who have tasted Krispy Kreme, for example, Kenny Sia, as he was the one who sort of started the donut craze here. However, most people doesn’t know the brand Krispy Kreme yet. I am looking forward to that day, seriously. Haha.

Oh, are you a market analyst for Krispy Kreme or is Krispy Kreme planning to invade Malaysia and you are doing a marketing research for them? :D
Sure sure, we can talk more in email.
