Rock & Roll Blues Cafe
To celebrate Marsha’s resignation and going to a greener pasture, we, the stringers and Marsha headed down to Melaka Raya’s Rocky’s Rock & Roll Blues Cafe. The cafe is just few shop lots away from Bei Zhan Restaurant. It serves really expensive (for Malacca’s standard) but delicious and huge steaks. On weekends, there are live band playing inside the tiny restaurant too.
The stringers are myself, Allison, Steven and the latest member, Swee Lee. Last but not least, Marsha herself.

First, a toast to Marsha with the vanilla flavoured muffins baked by Swee Lee.

Except Swee Lee who ordered fish and chips and Allison who came way after we finished our dinner, the rest ordered steaks. There were garlic breads, onion rings and chicken nuggets as appetizers too. The garlic bread tasted awesome, really garlic-ish and it’s very crispy too. As for the chicken nugget, its just nugget and nothing special about it. Onion rings were below par, as I think Nando’s and A&W’s onion rings are the best so far.

Swee Lee’s fish and chips came with a really huge piece of fish, some broccolis, handful of big ass fries, 1/8 of lemon and home made tartar sauce. The fish was nicely deep fried till crisp and golden brown, with fresh and juicy fish meat.

All steaks came with a plate of fresh salad. The best part was that they give you a bottle of thousand island sauce and mayonnaise each so that you can pour as much as you want. I literally socked my salad in thousand island soup.
Marsha ordered sirloin steak while Steven and me ordered rib eyes. (Do read up the difference between rib eyes and sirloin if you don’t know.)

For the steaks, you can choose between baked potatoes or mashed potatoes. The baked potatoes tasted better than the mashed potatoes though. It was fragrant and tasty as they baked the potatoes with lots of butter in it, yet it’s not oily.

It came with a small “cup” of baked beans and some broccolis too. The baked beans tasted not bad, I am pretty sure that its not those Ayam Brand’s canned baked beans. However, I hate broccolis. Yuck!

To wash all the food down, I had watermelon juice.

The steak cost around RM30+, which is almost 4 times more expensive compared to other cafes in Malacca that serves steaks. However, those steaks aren’t steaks at all but just a piece of beef patty. Unlike Rock & Roll Blues Cafe, they serve authentic beef steaks ala KL standard (TGIF? Chilis?). It’s certainly worth the price to have a good steak in Malacca. Look at that big fat juicy steak!

Of course, we spent close to 3 hours at the restaurant, having our dinner and chit chatting. We even posed with the instruments on the stage.

What do these pictures tell you? Yes, she’s a blogger too. Coincidently, her blog’s title also has the initial of “J” and “M”.

Marsha, good luck in your new job and all the best! Do keep in touch!
