Nasi Lemak
August 20th, 2007, Jason
Sook Ying wanted to eat her mum’s nasi lemak. Knowing her mum won’t cook specially just for her, she told her mum that she has invited Suthing (婷婷**) and me to her house for dinner. Despite her cunning and evil plan, her mum bought it and was kind enough to prepare a complete nasi lemak dinner for us.
The basics like coconut milk rice, hard boil eggs, peanuts, fried anchovies, sambal with sotongs and cucumbers were included.

Her mum also threw in chicken curry, salted kembung fish and stir fried green beans. She also prepared cincau (grass jelly?) as desserts / beverages.

One freaking awesome nasi lemak meal for dinner.
Although the chicken curry and sambal were not spicy at all, it was good, especially those big chunks of potatoes. I had 2 big bowls of rice (The bowl was slightly bigger than the bowls we normally used.) and whacked as much as I could, no remorse. Ahaks!

Halfway through the dinner, Yan, who stays and works nearby, dropped by to join us for dinner too.

Throughout the dinner, 3 of them (Sook Ying, Teng Teng and Yan) were talking about the upcoming farewell party for some bloggers and My Blogger Con 2007 大马中文部落格祭 while I shamelessly helped myself with the food. After all, I am an outsider for the Chinese blogging community and I don’t know much what’s going on with their community.
It was a sumptuous dinner with great people indeed.
Here’s a shout out to Sook Ying’s mum :
Thanks a lot for the dinner, again. Certainly, I wouldn’t mind coming to your house for more! No pun intended. However, where’s the super big bowl of soup?
LOL.
