Evening With JiNz And Sook Ying
Barely 5 hours after our buffet session at Jogoya, Sook Ying and I headed out to The Curve for our next appointment with another blogger, JiNz (sis). Although JiNz did join me at the private screening for Nuffnang-ers the other day, we didn’t talk at all much and I didn’t get to spend some time with her. Hence, the dinner was rather important / essential to me.
Odd enough, she didn’t fly my kite twice in a row! Pardon the uneven skin colour, sis just came back from a weekend getaway from Phuket, Thailand during early May. You know, sunny beaches and bikinis. :P

I chose Italiannies, another restaurant that I always wanted to try. Due to the 3.5 hours buffet session earlier on, I know I wasn’t in top condition to try the food at Italiannies. Who cares anyway, I was there for sis only while Sook Ying wanted to meet her in person.

Anyway, ambiance is very comfortable, with all the yellow lightings and leather seat, its quite a homely decorated restaurant. Not to mention. service is fast and good and the waiters were quite tentative while we were there.

The moment we sat down, they served us a plate of breads and a plate of sauce consisted of olive oil, peppers and a bit of vinegar.

I ordered a calamari caesar salad, shrimp aglio olio and classic pizza. I was supposed to order the lasagna but I was day dreaming and got the order wrongly. Ha! First up was the calamari caesar salad. Nothing to shout about for the deep fried calamari or the salad. The calamari wasn’t crunchy but at least, it wasn’t oily. The portion was seriously huge, even three of us couldn’t finish it. I hate those black circle thing-y a.k.a olive.

The shrimp aglio olio tasted rather weird compared to the one I tasted at La Casa Cafe. Most likely is caused by the different olive oil they used. The prawns were rather juicy and fresh too! There were like 8 or 9 prawns in that rather huge plate of spaghetti. It tasted rather nice still. Many have told me that Italiannies’ carabona and spaghetti are their specialty but too bad we had to give those cream and cheese a go. After all, the afternoon’s buffet session was really a heavy one and it was taking its toll.

Classic pizza was rather dry for my liking. I mean, there wasn’t any tomato sauce on it and the chicken chunks were dry too. Topped with red and green capsisum and mushrooms, After 2-3 slices of those, I couldn’t take it anymore. The bread wasn’t crispy, like the real Italian’s pizza that they were famous for. In fact, it was rather thick and where were the cheese? I hardly ate any. The portion was huge and we couldn’t finish it either, leaving 3 slices behind which we took away.

We had tiramisu for dessert and that was the biggest tiramisu I ever had. It’s even bigger than my palm, well, almost. It’s rather creamy but still it tasted very good. The alcohol taste was significant, so did the coffee and chocolate taste. However, I think the ratio of the cream (white) and cake (brown) should be even. As seen in the picture, the tiramisu consisted of 90% cream. Damn jelak after a few spoons yet I still finished it.

The portions were really huge and 3 of us couldn’t finish the food. Nonetheless, the food tasted very good and I wouldn’t mind coming back again for more. At least, I have another choice other than western food restaurants like Chilies or TGIF (I have yet to try.) or even Marche. Price doesn’t differ much and one meal will set you back roughly RM30 or more, depending on your orders.
Sook Ying and JiNz did cross path almost a year ago, during the last MMU’s graduation ceremony. They have a common friend and Sook Ying even helped her friend and JiNz to take a picture together, only to realize that one of them was JiNz. Ha! Isn’t that freaky? I think they got along pretty well.

Whenever JiNz has a chance to lay her hands on my camera, there will be slightly more pictures of me.

A group picture before we left the restaurant. Sis footed the bill with her credit card. Thanks a lot, sis!

We then adjourned to Baskin Robin for ice cream before we bid farewell.

If you can read Chinese, hop over to JiNz’s blog - “碰上蓝玫瑰和碎碎念“.
Our makan session didn’t end here as Sook Ying and I were craving for SS2 Murni’s clay pot lou shu fan and off we drove to SS2 before we went home. We ordered ribena special (ice blended ribena with cut fruits and nata de coco) and a clay pot lou shu fan. Man, even after not eating it for like 6 months or more, it still tasted that awesome. Definitely one of the best lou shu fan ever tasted.

Now, that’s one whole day of satisfying and yummy-licious meals in a day.

The “black circle thingy” are most likely olives - can’t see clearly from the pics.
Their Smoked Salmon Pizza is awesome… you should’ve ordered that ;p Other than that, I don’t think there’s much to shout about in Italiannies. I was there on my birthday last week, they served a ‘birthday cake’, which was basically bread pudding with a candle. I chose that place because we had a RM30 voucher.
That RM30 was given to us when we went for dinner on Mother’s Day few weeks ago. Haha. Twice in a month.
Ah that Murni lo shu fun - really great. I’m still amazed at how they manage to keep all the tables and chairs into their shop. When open for business, almost the whole area outside is theirs.

Han Ping : It is! Ha!
Jamie : Expensive? No problem for me. :P
Yung. : I think it is olive too.
+1 : I also don’t like the sauce too, I ate the bread just like that, plain. Still, it tasted quite good.
Narrowband : Is it? I will order that during my next visit. Is Italiannies your family’s family restaurant? Haha! The whole stretch of road has their tables, damn kua jiong. I think when they close the shops, inside the shop is nothing but tables and chairs. Ha! Like a storeroom like that.
Adeline : That evening was really enjoyable and relaxing, no doubt. The food is really worth a try, make sure you visit them, k?
Huei : Haha! Then, have you eaten anything to stop your hunger?
JoeC : Yes, everyone loves to eat. So, any new place or restaurant to recommend me?
Babelearner : Their servings for all the food are huge, I mean, seriously huge. Three of us couldn’t even finish anything, except for the tiramisu. Yup, dip with the sauce they mixed and eat it. However, I don’t like the sauce.
Clement : Perhaps you should try it out. ;)
Yan : Haha! One of those rare shots. :D

Walao… I remember Italianese, the shop who made my pocket and wallet tear… But the environment is nice. Last time I went on Sunday, and there are damn lot of people, and we need to queue, but inside the restaurant, the sits are not full, they just simply keep some empty sit to make the environment less pasar:(

aiyoo… so jehless….. got 2!!! 2!!!! leng lui..teman u makan..
OOH !!!!
Italianese food is nice. the first time, i went the waiter was kind enough to inform us that certain dishes are for 4 persons…(it was only my friend n me having lunch at that time).
tho we did see a couple, the lady’s eyes was like going to pop out when she saw her order (for 4 persons) came for her n her partner. (probably the waiter forgot to tell them the order was for 4 not 2).
overall, I’ve been there for 3 times. good service at that place.

Han Ping : Haha. Not only it tastes weird, it tastes a little bitter actually. You are not alone.
Vhanded : Well, if you opted to dine in such restaurant, should be prepared to burn a big hole in your wallet. Never mind, not like you visit such restaurant very often also, right? That’s crowd control, a very good way to control the atmosphere of the restaurant actually.
MaN|acZ : I got to admit, their portion is nothing but huge. I wonder how the lady is going to finish her orders. LOL. Yes, I had a good experience in Italiannies too, will definitely go back there again.

Oh.. my.. God.. !! Jason..!! i salute you lah..!! i seriously wished i can eat like you .. ;) bringing me out to eat.. is a real waste.. because the portions that i eat.. does not justify.. the price i will be paying for those wonderful buffets. .and pizzas.. ;)

Mama Bok : Haha! I don’t think you want to eat like me because the consequences of having such amazing ability is “fat”. Haha! Well, you can always drag a friend like me to eat your portion of food. :P
