Another SplashMilk’s Design
Finally, a new template after more than six months. This time, the template wasn’t designed by Nee (Surprise!), who has designed all my previous three templates. Instead, Mikel or more widely known as SplashMilk offered to design my header.
It wasn’t easy to find a matching background to go along with the header. Nonetheless, Mikel created a tiny character which later was named as “Orang Jingga (Orange Man)”. From there, I gave him the idea and he went to work on it by creating a short and simple comic which is just on the left hand side of the blog.
After having a matching background and separator, it was a fight between grey or white background. White! Grey! White! Grey! White! Grey! White! Grey! White! Grey! Grey! White! Grey! White! Grey! White! Grey! White! Grey! White!
“I cannot look at my own design and then blend with some colours that I don’t like. It’s very weird, like seeing your son wearing a dress.” - Mikel.
At the end of the day, we had to get someone to help us out with our dispute and we grabbed Simmonette Simmy to be the one who would decide the colour to be used. Why Simmy? I don’t know, Mikel just appointed Simmy to be the one. Do visit her site and her Flickr site, you won’t regret. She’s just way too cute and hot.
Result? White, it was. Simmy, sei sak lei! Muacks!
When I was about to implement, Debbie told me the images were overlapping each other and the layout was a little screwed up. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was caused by different resolution. I was working on the template on my new notebook which is running on 1280 * 800 resolution and the template was perfect. However, after switching it to 1024 * 768 (common resolution among PC users), indeed, it was overlapping. Another 30 minutes were wasted to tweak the website to fit into 1024 * 768.
However, it does look a little cramp on 1024 * 768 resolution and the spacing between the comic and the post is small. Switching it to 1280 * 800 resolution, the spacing is rather wide for my liking. I guess, I just need to bear with it since most people are still on the 1024 * 768 resolution, anything resolution lower than that, I’m sorry.
The top is in 1280 * 800 resolution while the bottom is 1024 * 768 resolution.
Do take note that the template is optimized for 1280 * 800 resolution and Firefox. Download Firefox today, the best web browser! Not only that, my header is only viewable in Firefox or IE6 and above only. IE doesn’t support PNG format. Jason Tee of bleargh.net managed to fix everything for me. Now, it should look perfect on IE and FF.
Done! Out goes the old template, in comes the new one.

P/S : I am thinking of removing the chatbox because of the pop ups.

The header can be a little bigger. Mebbe it’s my IE…but it will look better if it is bigger. Overall, I like it. ;)

maybe you don’t “center” the nuffnang ad and put in a “div” with appropriate positioning so it wouldn’t overlap the comic.
actually i think grey would be nice? dunno lah. your decision.

My iMac browser cannot support your new layout - the words are overlapping the comic strip. I guess I won’t be reading your blog anymore…lol!
Must upgrade Safari or maybe I could just abandoned jasonmumbles and go ‘kacau’ some other up-and-coming blogger….

Love this template. Very unique and with personality. White background is better too. :) I don’t like coloured backgrounds. :P But I don’t really like the left column of comics. Cute, but wasting space, and it is just that 5 repeating… sorry if I offend anyone - just my personal opinion ya?
