RM480 Spectacles

May 30th, 2007, Jason

Looking at the picture I took with JiNz during late January, I couldn’t help it but laughed at myself.

My specs was crooked, just in case you didn’t notice or know what was I talking about. Hence, enough is enough. I decided to change my specs before my next trip to KL. Then, my cheque, a rather fat one, came in just at the right time.I then headed down to my town’s optical shop and did the necessary eye tests and frame selecting process.

Fast forward, I got my specs 2 days before I went to KL. Not sure how many people noticed but am very sure that nobody mentioned it. Damn sad! Ha! It doesn’t matter since I am blogging about it anyway. It’s a red Levi’s frame and there’s not much design on it. In fact, it looks like just any other ordinary specs frame.

The specs sure looks normal, isn’t it? Yet, it cost me a whopping RM480! It is expensive because of the glasses that I opted for. This time, I opted for Essilor’s transition lens. Transition lens is the not so latest technology and is starting to get more affordable recently. When UV light is “shined” through the lens, the lens will change to a darker shade, making it into a sun glasses. When there’s no UV light detected, it will change back to clear lens. To make it even simpler for you, its a 2-in-1 lens, sun glasses and clear glasses in 1 lens.

Under normal lighting…

When UV light is detected…

Now, that’s wicked isn’t it? I got to know about this transition lens from Tien Soon and he recommended Essilor, which is quite affordable and has good quality. The transition is fast, barely noticeable and smooth. At times, I was wondering whether the lens has change its darkness or not.

Shameless cam-whore.

Fine. That shoudl be the last cam-whore picture of myself taken with my own camera.

I Am Your Angel. Am I?

May 28th, 2007, Jason

Posting lyrics and music is something that I don’t do very often. However, when I do, I do make sure its worth an entry on its own.

You will never know what’s the next song will be played when you are using the shuffle function in your music player, especially when you have like 18GB of music files residing in your hard disk. While playing my Bomber Man II (No download required, web based.) the other day, this song, sang by Celion Dion and R. Kelly, was played.

I didn’t know I have this song. :P

I’m Your Angel by Celion Dion and R. Kelly.

No mountains too high, for you to climb,
All you have to do is have some climbing faith, oh yeah…
No rivers too wide, for you to make it across,
All you have to do is believe it when you pray,

And then you will see, the morning will come,
And everyday will be bright as the sun,
All of your fears, cast them on me,
I just want you to see…

I’ll be your cloud up in the sky,
I’ll be your shoulder when you cry,
I’ll hear your voices when you call me,
I am your angel.

And when all hope is gone, I’m here,
No matter how far you are, I’m near.
It makes no difference who you are,
I am your angel,
I’m your angel.

I saw the teardrops, and I heard you cry,
All you need is time, seek me and you shall find,
You have everything and you’re still lonely,
It doesn’t have to be this way, let me show you a better day.

And then you will see, the morning will come,
And all of your days will be bright as the sun,
So all of your fears, just cast them on me,
How can I make you see…

I’ll be your cloud up in the sky,
I’ll be your shoulder when you cry,
I’ll hear your voices when you call me,
I am your angel.

And when all hope is gone, I’m here,
No matter how far you are, I’m near.
It makes no difference who you are,
I am your angel,
I’m your angel.

And when it’s time to face the storm,
I’ll be right by your side.
Grace will keep up safe and warm,
And I know we will survive.

And when it seems as if your end is drawing near,
Don’t you dare give up the fight,
Just put your trust beyond the sky…

I’ll be your cloud up in the sky,
I’ll be your shoulder when you cry,
I’ll hear your voices when you call me,
I am your angel.

And when all hope is gone, I’m here,
No matter how far you are, I’m near.
It makes no difference who you are,
I am your angel,
I’m your angel.

I’ll be your cloud up in the sky,
I’ll be your shoulder when you cry,
I’ll hear your voices when you call me,
I am your angel.

And when all hope is gone, I’m here,
No matter how far you are, I’m near.
It makes no difference who you are,
I am your angel,
I’m your angel.

Jolene And I At Nuffnang’s Private Screening

May 26th, 2007, Jason

This is the only photo I have at the private screening of “Pirates of the Caribbeans : At World’s End” for Nuffnang supporters!

That’s Jolene, by the way.

You must be wondering why I didn’t take any pictures in such huge event, where close to 250 bloggers and / or Nuffnang supporters gathered in one hall to watch movie together. Well, let me answer that at the end of this post.

Everybody has been waiting for this day to come and I am sure, the organizer, Timothy had to bear an enormous amount of pressure as the day came closer. Not to mention, Wen Qi Samantha Wong was equally busy coordinating everything while acting like a personal secretary / assistant to the big boss at the same time. She is smoking hot, I tell you.

The private screening was successful, although they could have cut down the advertisement time. It seemed like ages while everyone was waiting patiently for the movie to start. Apart from that, the event was great because almost every active Malaysian bloggers were there, all under one roof and in one hall, making it as one of the biggest bloggers’ gathering ever held. Does the figure 250 rings a bell?

I am very glad to be able to meet old friends and / or bloggers since the last meet gathering held sometime ago. Bloggers like Cely, Hong Kiat, Earl Ku, Mikel, smashpOp, Cherrie and Brandon, Jen, Sook Ying, Penny, Yee Hou, Albert, Simon, Wingz and many more… I mean, really a lot more!

However, I think there were missing faces like Joan Chew a.k.a Food Lover, Ivan, Calvin and many more. I wonder what happened to them? Not free? Not interested? Doesn’t support blog advertising? I have no idea.

Never mind that, it was fun seeing them again although I didn’t go up to have a chat with them. I think the only people I talked to that night were Timothy, Cely, Wen Qi, Yee Hou, Jolene, smashpOp and Earl Ku. As for the rest, I just nod my head, raised my hand and smiled away as I acknowledged them. Damn funny when Cherrie gave me the grumbled look when I couldn’t recognize her from afar. Sorry, Cherrie!

Now, why didn’t I take pictures or walk up to have a small chat?

I will just keep the reasons to myself. I’m sorry if you feel offended that I didn’t go up to say ‘Hi’ or anything, I’m not being proud. Paiseh ah!

Most importantly, many thanks to Nee, JiNz and her cousin sister for accompanying me to the event.

“The best is yet to come.” - Timothy Tiah.

I truly believe that and I am looking forward to it.

Crepes And Chicken Rice

May 24th, 2007, Jason

I decided to leave Malacca earlier so that I could beat the jam and reach my destination at my desired / planned time. However, the time spent at Nadeje Patisserie cafe took longer than I expected and it was almost 3.15pm when I entered the Ayer Keroh toll. I thought I would be in deep shit by the time I reach KL at 4.30pm or 5pm, but thank God, the traffic was all clear and it was definitely a good sign for me. Not to mention, I was driving my old Nissan Sunny that has been giving me problem all the time, especially during crucial time like this. In other words, I managed to deliver all the cakes at the mentioned time, although I was a little late at the SS2 and Kepong “pit stop”.

Many thanks to Timothy and Wen Qi, Cely, Khang Nee, May Gin, Emily, Egghead, Twinsmom, San San, Sook Ying, Jasmine, Zara’s Mama, Msau, Tracy, Mikel, 1+2mom, Agustu (Sorry, didn’t know you are a blogger too!) and Shiau Lin for ordering the cakes and be patience with me.

I have met most of the bloggers except first timers like May Gin and Jasmine (The one who discounted my notebook!) and Wen Qi. I actually forgot to take picture with Jasmine and Wen Qi (I dare not, Boss was with her!), but not May Gin of http://foodylicious.blogspot.com! Look at the sunshine smile!

Of course, a bigger thanks to Sook Ying’s parents and boy friend for helping me out to store the cakes at their extremely huge refrigerator while I have a lovely home cooked chicken rice dinner at her house. Not only I used their fridge and had dinner with them, but Mr. Wong also guided me all the way to SS2 from her place, on motorbike. Thank you and thank you, that’s all I can say to Sook Ying, Weng Heng (her boy friend), Mr. and Mrs. Wong. Oh, very friendly family too!

Just to refresh your memory, Sook Ying is the cute little girl who always have me in her thoughts. Damn sweet girl, seriously. She is the one who sends me not 1 but two snail mails from US too!

Mrs. Wong cooked a meal of home cooked chicken rice, something which I have longed for a long time since the “departure” of my late grandmother. How I miss home cooked food nowadays as my mum doesn’t want to cook anymore lately as there are only 3 people in the house most of the times. Anyway, Mrs. Wong prepared steamed chicken, gizzards, deep fried fish eggs, vegetables and a big, really big bowl of old cucumber soup. Most importantly, the authentic chicken rice’s chilies, not very spicy but still spicy.

The bowl of soup was nothing but huge. I think it could easily exceed the 1 liter mark. -sweat-

Fragrant chicken rice.

They say if you eat too much fish eggs, you will fail in your mathematic examinations. Myth to stop children from eating this sinfully delicious stuffs.

Chicken was rather tough / old though, but who cares, its home cooked food by Sook Ying’s mother and it’s free!

Kailan(?) in oyster sauce.

Satisfying dinner, it was!

Of course, a blogger meet up session will never be completed without a cam-whoring session, Lumix users!
