Thai Express And Pantai Seafood Village

I was in KL sometime ago to attend the bloggers’ / kids’ gathering (the next post) and to meet up some old friends like Peek@Booh and her boy friend, Tiu Nia Sing and his girl friend, Mikel and Kai Hong. It was quite a fun day except the morning part because it didn’t go quite smoothly.

I left the house with my sister, Jamie and 5 boxes of Mille Crepe at 9AM and we reached KL 1.5 hours later. Although she has been in KL for almost 4 to 5 months, she hasn’t been to much places. Hence, being the nice brother -coughs-, I brought her out to “look see look see”.

I dropped a box of Mille Crepe at Twinsmom’s place, but since she wasn’t in, I proceeded to SS2 to meet up with Joan. However, Joan had another urgent matter to attend to and I didn’t get to pass her the box of Mille Crepe that I promised. Emily came to pick up the cakes not too long after that. I had a quick breakfast with Peek@Booh and Tiu Nia Sing back-to-back after that, a quick one as in really quick, since I was late for the gathering and they had something to attend to. Damn sad when Peek@Booh said she couldn’t bring me to eat nice food.

After the gathering, I met up with Mikel and he brought a friend along, Tony. We had lunch at Thai Express at The Curve. Tony is a HELP college student and I do occasionally drop by his blog. I didn’t talk much to him because I don’t know him very well but that can be worked out.

I ordered a plate of white rice with seafood in green curry, while my sister ordered a plate of fried rice or something like fried rice. Mikel ordered a plate of fried glass noodles (冬粉).

The food were not too bad, but I think my green curry had too much coconut milk. There were 3 prawns, a decent amount of fish and squids in it, not too bad for RM11.90. We walked around and we bid farewell at 5.30PM because I need to go to my grandmother’s house to meet my aunt. I had dinner appetizer at my grandmother’s place before meeting up with Kai Hong at 8PM.

The last time we met up was at Tanjung Harapan, Klang for seafood; and this time, it’s at a restaurant called Pantai Seafood Village at Kayu Ara, Petaling Jaya. The restaurant is located along a very narrow kampung road and is deep inside the Malay village. We reached the place around 8PM and the restaurant was quite packed with customers. The restaurant can easily fit 1000 people or more, I think.

When you enter the restaurant, you will see a wall of aquariums, containing the freshest seafood you can find.

Most of the seafoods displayed are the “higher” / “exotic” class, such as…

“Scollop Red Snapper 红友鱼” @ RM53 / kg,

fresh oyster @ RM6.50 / piece,

“Scotland Clam 圣子王” @ RM118 / kg,

Boston Lobster @ RM150 / kg,

Snow Crab @ RM183 / kg,

Australia Lobster @ RM233 / kg,

“Turbo Fish 多宝鱼” @ RM268 / kg,

“Soon Hock 顺嗀” @ RM118 / kg,

“Pak Soh Kong 白须公” @ RM54 / kg,

and the one featured on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” - Alaska King Crab @ RM208 / kg.

Seriously, I wanted to eat the Alaska King Crab, and I think Kai Hong had the same thought as me. However, I kept on had this feeling that Kai Hong was cursing me deep down inside his heart, “Jason, why? Why?! WHY?! Why you want to eat the sinfully expensive crab and drag me along?!?! Why?!?!?!”

Since Fat Lady (Kai Hong’s lovely and not-fat-at-all girl friend.) joined us for dinner, she’s the biggest boss among all of us.

“Fat Lady, we want to order that Alaska King Crab, RM208 / kg? How?”
“Don’t want lah, 4 of us only.”
“Fat Lady said don’t want, next time lah Jason, OK?”

Immediately, Kai Hong’s face cheered up little a lot the moment Fat Lady said so. Hypocrite. Tsk! -lol- Fat Lady ordered “Kai Lan stir fried with Kai Lan”, “Pig’s Hand”, “Braised Tau Fu with Seafood” and “Salted Egg Crabs”.

According to Kai Hong, the “Kai Lan” is shredded into tiny strips and then deep fried, followed by stir frying it with anchovies and the stems. The vegetables were crunchy and juicy. It’s something special and it’s one of their signature dishes.

The pig’s hand is another deep fried dish. The bone was huge and if someone were to hit your head with the bone, you might have a concussion. -lol- There were more meats than fats, and tasted quite tender. At one point, it even tasted like those herbal chickens. -sweat- Together with the sweet sauce they provided and the crunchy skin, its finger licking good.

As for the “tau fu”, nothing special.

If “Salted Egg Crabs” is another popular dish, I guess, there are hundred and hundred trays of salted egg in their kitchen. I think they would have used at least 3 or 4 salted eggs to cook this dish. Although quite salty, the crabs tasted very fresh and retained its sweetness. This dish is definitely not a very healthy one, especially for people with high cholesterol, like me? -blek-

The bill came up to RM115, which is quite cheap for the food we ordered. Too bad Kai Hong was gunned down with flu (Or maybe because Fat Lady was there?), if not, he would have enjoyed the dinner better. His performance that night dropped by almost 60% or more.

“If we were to eat the Alaska King Crab, we need to have a team of at least 6 persons. It would be even better if we have 10, can order more mah!” said Kai Hong.

So, anyone of you who is willing to spend RM100 to RM150 for an exotic seafood dinner, do let me know. Chee Yong and Chun Kit decided to bypass this time, which somehow disappointed me and I still doubt they would join me for the next round. -sniff sniff-

Exotic seafood, anyone? Peek@Booh? Tiu Nia Sing? Mikel? Joan? Chris? Juliana? Carol? Jinlan? Tien Soon? Cely? -sighs-

I dropped my sister at my grandmother’s place again before heading back to Tampin. Somehow, the 1-day trip lacked of something, something that I don’t really know what is it. I felt emptiness when I am writing this post. The trip didn’t have the excitement or the satisfaction. -sighs- However, it was still fun, seriously. -grins-

Thanks to Peek@Booh, Tiu Nia Sing, Kai Hong and Fat Lady, Mikel and Tony.

Hi Jason, thanks for visiting again. He he will make my blog short and sweet next time. Don’t give up on me yet!! Your blog as usual made me hungry, must go pilfer for food, yesterday was Halloween so I have buckets of candy. Somehow that doesn’t quite cut it. Nope not even close. Sigh, always talking about losing weight yet, don’t quite have the will power. When I see food, all good intentions and resolutions that I make when I wake up go out the window. If only your blog had a smelling device, I would visit it everyday. Imagine as soon as I open your blog, the smell of food would envelope me. Just as some people have music playing the moment you visit their site.

Ellone : Jogoya and exotic seafood at Pantai Seafood Village are two different things. I would prefer to eat at Pantai anytime compare to Jogoya. Your bet, Thai Express one meal.

Milly : You didn’t come to my car and take. :P

Fire Horse : You don’t have to change your style to suit other people. If you are comfortable with long posts, go ahead. Haha! Just that, I need to concentrate longer to read finish the post. -lol-

I tell you, good food and losing weight are both sworn enemies. Is either you forget about the food and lose weight or the other way round, there’s no win-win situation one. -lol- For me, food comes first.

Wah, with smell, 4D blog. :P

Tien Soon : Yeah, 1 team member in.

Kai Hong : Need cash meh? You always swipe your credit card one. Haha! We will pay you back one lah, of course.

i hardly leave comments on blogs…unless i’m dying/itching/just-have-to/burning to say/correct/voice something to the point of losing sleep/stressing out/can’t-eat/can’t function/can’t concentrate/can’t study/experiencing physiological changes. And this post is one of them….
NO ONE SAYS PIG’S HANDS!!!!! NOPE, NO NO NO, NADA, ELEK, ZIP, ZILCH. PIG’S HANDS??? (face in disbelief)…..who ever uses the term ‘pig’s hands’???
In my humble opinion, i think it’s called pig’s trotters…..Even if it is the hands of the pigs, and not the legs…But then again, pigs run on all fours…who is to know which 2 are the legs and which 2 are the hands…..
Oh, wat is Mille Crepe ? (blief it or not, i actually asked this ques out loud when i was reading ur blog)

Fat Lady : Wah! Your first comment in my blog. :P Haha, dare not and not blaming you lah. Haha! A bit disappointed, no doubt, but then what Kai Hong / you said is true, that we need more people. Never mind, am gathering more people now. Ahaks! Glad that you like the cake. :D

Cely : Pay more loh. :P At least, its not SGD100 - SGD150.

Ta Wen : Sure or not? Won’t FFK one hor? But I thought you are in Penang?

Lee CS : Thai Express, not super nice and not super lousy. Can eat lah. :P Yeah, the kai lan very nice. Crunchy.

Yea Lee : I also know its called pig trotters, but then, its different when the front “legs” are used. :D If humans were to run on all fours, the front would be the hands, right? Hehe. As for what is Mille Crepe, why not you just click on the link and find out.

Again, i just HAD to say smth…
It’s pig trotters no matter wat la..How can u compare human to pigs? (ok, well, there are some similarites sometimes, but tat’s not the point here)…human NATURALLY stands upright…if they were to run on all fours, obviously their hands would still be their hands…But pigs have FOUR LEGS….u dun say ‘pigs haf 2 legs and 2 hands’!…..and coughs coughs, in my humble opinion, all four are identical..as in, i dun think u can differentiate them if they were severed, jumbled up, and placed in front of u…

Well, wat can i say? The pig u consumed has been working out. And ur argument is sooo flawed…U said the ‘hands’ have less fat compared to the ‘leg’…How do u know when u din eat the ‘legs’ of the SAME pig? i mean, u hafta do tat in order to be able to compare…Some pigs are ‘leaner’ than others, no? AAAAANnnnnnnddddd…….even if u did taste both arms and legs…wouldn’t the legs be less fatty than the hands since they’re the one ‘doing all the work’?…..MUUUahahahahahaha, i win i win i win…SAY IT, u know i’m RIGHT…(brings one eyebrow up and down haughtily)….MUUuahahah..i LURVE tormenting u….

Yea Lee : Fine, you win. But when we ordered, the boss said, “zhu shou” (pig’s hand), why didn’t he call “zhu geok” (pig’s leg)? And when you eat, the meat has less fat compare to the leg, you know. :D

Boss Stewie : First day know me ah? :P

Msau : 4 people, cannot afford ler. *sobs*

    Yea Lee : -speechless-
