Marshmallows By Mei Mei

Remember Pelf Yeen? The only girl who went to Penang for Spirit Of Penang with me 2 months ago? Well, Mei Mei is back in Malacca for her holidays and we met up for supper.

We met at Ban Lee Xiang Satay Celup, Jalan Ong Kim Wee. I waited for 15 minutes before Mei Mei and her friend arrived. Her friend, which I have forgotten her name, is quite a hot chick. -coughs- Can I have her phone number? Mei Mei came with a small little plastic bag.

Apparently, it was for me. Inside was a handful of marshmallows. I didn’t know what it was albeit she told me it was marshmallows. I only knew what it was when I came back home and took a bite. -lol- Not that I didn’t eat before, just that I didn’t know it was marshmallows. -shy- Maybe I should pay more attention to the names of the things I eat next time.

They say it will taste better if I bake / BBQ it. What if I deep fry them?

Haha, ok..I can see ur confused, blur, wrinkled eyebrow look. Nope, u dunno me…..and nope, i dunno u too..I’m Ellone’s fren, who happens to be a big fan of her blog. Who, one day, happens to read abt the Melaka Grilled Burger on her blog, who then happens to check out the ‘original source’ of the recommendation, who then, stumbles upon all the ‘food reviews’ written on the particular blog, and being a avid food lover herself, was fascinated and intrigued. Long story short….i Just HAD TO submit a comment when i read abt the marshmallow blog….Erm, u dun exactly bbq or bake ur marshmallow…U just burn it slightly….as in, on ur stove, and quickly pass ur marshmallows thro it. u can’t leave it over the fire for long, coz it’d usually catch fire and end up black. If u ‘master the technique’, it’d be ever so slightly browned, and kinda crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. But i think the plain (without filling) marshmallows taste better ‘burnt’. And OH OH, u can put marshmallows on hot choc….nicee…..

Papi : Her name is Pelf Yeen ler. Where got forget? :D But then, she’s not available already. Sienz.

Yea Lee : Fuh! I didn’t know Carol’s got big fan. Tsk! Just kidding. Yea, that was what I meant, but the idea of deep frying came into my mind when I remembered it could be baked / BBQ-ed. But, still thanks for enlightening me. I think I wouldn’t want to dip my marshmallow into hot chocolate, since I am not a choc fan. :D

Ok, this comment would be totally redundant, but i tot i just HAD TO write it (haha, having lotsa HAD TO moments today..) anyways, i dun mean dipping ur marshmallows into hot chocolate…I mean, u know the hot chocolate drink…..ok ok, let’s not get all ‘ang-moh-ised’ and go back to Msia roots…..u know, the ever-so-popular staple Msia drink…M-i-l-o……hehe, yeah, u make milo, and then u put a couple of marshmallows on top..as in, leave it there…it’ll kinda melt and form a layer over the top.if u leave it long enough, it’d melt completely and gif ur drink a tinge of sweetness ..

Yea Lee : Milo? Haha, that’s the last drink I want to drink during my yamcha session. :P But I will give it a try provided Mei Mei gives me more marshmallows. LOL. Looks like you are a hardcore marshmallow fan/expert. Hehe.

Here is how we eat marshmallows:

    1. Put the marshmallow on stick or fork and hold over a flame so that the outer surface starts to brown, char, or even catch fire. The inside will become very soft. Then, VERY quickly -
    2. Put the heated marshmallow on top of a graham cracker (wholemeal biscuit)
    3. Top with one piece plain chocolate. The heat from the marshmallow will make the chocolate start to melt.
    4. Top with another graham cracker so the whole thing resembles a sandwich.
    5. Eat carefully!

It is called a s’more because once you eat one, you’ll want to have some more.
