Logitech MX610 Laser Cordless Mouse

Ah Nee wanted to give me a surprise last Saturday, but it didn’t work out because her course mate - Cui Qing leaked out the “surprise” to me 2 nights before that. –lol- Anyway, still remember my 2006 wish list? One of the items I wanted is the Logitech MX610 Laser Cordless Mouse, and the mouse’s cost price is somewhere around RM210 to RM220. And no need to guess, Ah Nee bought it for me, as my 22nd birthday present.
The mouse is beautiful. Black and silver, to give that futuristic look. With the curvy shape and design, it is one sexy mouse indeed. Most importantly, it fits into my hand. Not only that, it is way lighter than its predecessors. The mouse is designed in a such a way that it curves just like your hand, explaining the left-side-is-higher-than-the-right-side situation.
This is the receiver, which is even shorter than my thumb (< 10cm). Using a frequency up to 2.4Ghz, the signal is 5 times stronger compared to normal cordless mouse’s radio frequency (27MHz). Using this technology, the mouse is interference-free and the distance can stretch up to 10m.
Instead of the normal red LED that you always see on optical mouse, it uses laser instead. It basically can work flawlessly on almost every surface, even on a reflective mirror (Albeit it will be moving abruptly.). Unlike what we used to think, the laser is not in red colour like we used to see in science fiction movies.
With 10 programmable buttons, I can configure my mouse to do almost everything. From scrolling to controlling speaker volume, executing shortcuts, opening files and even opening programs. Even the scroll wheel can move left to right and can be set to execute special functions like maximizing, closing, undo, redo, copy, paste and etc. The mouse is designed in such a way that your thumb would be resting “inside” the mouse for better comfort. And there, you will have 2 buttons, which work as the “back” and “forward” button. For example, when I am surfing and need to go back to the previous page, instead of clicking the “back” button at the top, I can press it with my thumb.
Among the 10 buttons, there are 2 buttons – the “Email Notification” and “IM Notification” buttons. When there is a new email coming in, the button would light up (blue colour) to inform the user (That’s me!) that I have a new email and flash continuously for 20 seconds. By clicking the button, it will open up the default email program (Ie : Outlook Express and Thunderbird.). As for the “IM Notification” button, it works the same as well, but it is red in colour instead.
Why does it called “Smart Mouse”? Because the mouse would change it settings according to the preset profile whenever you switch to a certain program. For example, I have configured a profile for my internet browser – Firefox, so whenever I switch to Firefox, the mouse would change its profile to the Firefox profile, which all the 10 programmable buttons would have a different set of commands than the normal / default profile. You can even configure the buttons for games like War Craft, Red Alert and even CS; just assigned the shortcuts to the button and it will automatically change to that profile if the game is launched and detected.
Inside the box, it has its manual, promotion leaflet and warranty card. Nothing special. However, mine is a little special because it comes with a personal note / message for the owner of the mouse. The most special part is that, the stamp is Ah Nee’s picture! How cool is that?

Been using it for few days, this mouse, like Logitech said, it is one of the best mouse out there. I totally agreed with it.

Finally, I’m left with 1 mid term test only, which is about 3 weeks from now. I must start early for this subject because I don’t want the same thing, the infamous blank answer sheet to happen again.
Seriously, fork out a little bit of money to get a good mouse. It is a small investment and you will be amazed with it.

Andy CJW : If you have extra cash, go for 1 set one. RM370 to RM400 you can get a cordless keyboard and mouse. And Logitech’s mouse are very awesome as well. Also alot of functions. :) I am using LX7 though. Haha… Ya, hint your gf or anyone then. :P
