KL 1-Day Trip - Part III

April 26th, 2006, Jason

Click on to read Part I and Part II.

After my “appetizer”, Peek@Booh guided me to the next destination - Tak Fook Restaurant. Since Egghead, Loc Kee and Milly weren’t there yet, I was waiting anxiously in front of the restaurant. After 20 minutes later, I saw Egghead’s mistress coming; which reminds me of that I still didn’t get to lay my ass on his new car! -shows fist-

Attendees were Egghead, J, Little Luke, Milly, Loc Kee, Sweet Sweet and myself.

Great. I didn’t take a picture of Egghead and myself.

Sweet Sweet was sitting on the chair quietly, enjoying herself with the ice cubes. As for Little Luke, his cranky-ness was carried forward until dinner time. But then, give him an ice cube and he would sit down obediently.

We had…

1) Cheese Crabs with buns. 招牌芝士螃蟹.
2) “Peeing” Prawns? 濑尿虾.
3) “La La” in soup. 上汤拉拉.
4) “Fu Chow Tau Fu”. 福洲豆腐.
5) “Kai Lan” for vegetable.

“Fu Chow Tau Fu 福洲豆腐”. I wouldn’t say its very special nor very normal, on the fence. Because, I had similar stuff in Tampin, but it was in cube shape instead of round. Well, the “tau fu” was very soft and smooth though. Sweet Sweet was saying, “Egg! Egg!” whenever she wanted to eat the “tau fu”.

La La in soup. 上汤拉拉. The La La was like the size of my thumb, unlike Malacca’s, as small as a 10 cent coin. Its equivalent to not eating anything. Cooked in herbal soup and has a mild ginger taste and smell in it, but somehow, I find it a little bit bland though.

“Peeing” Prawns? 濑尿虾. Slightly deep friend and then cooked in sweet and sour sauce. Although I think there are better ways to cook prawns to bring out its freshness, like “Prawns in White Wine 醉酒虾”, but then, who am I to give comment about cooking, right? Still long way to go before I can start complaining about people’s food.

It has been almost 2 years since I last ate crabs. I don’t have any memory of my mum cooking crabs since we moved into our new house last year. So, cheese crabs, we ate. Served with freshly baked and hot buns. I called that 黄金面包 cause it did look like gold to me. Its for you to dip into the cheese sauce.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Crabs, cooked in thick cheese sauce. I don’t know what cheese they used though, but by the time I ate my third portion of the crabs, the cheese’s effect started to kick in. It got a little “jelak” after that. Maybe we should have ordered smaller portion of crabs but 2 different cooking style. Perhaps, it would be better. But then, it was really finger licking good.

Egghead paid the bill, and it was slightly below RM100. Worth it or not? For me, of course. But I am not sure about Egghead and Loc Kee though. Well, I would go there again but I will make sure I wear something more comfortable. The weather was hot enough. and it didn’t help when I was wearing long pants and a not too loose T-shirt. I felt “restricted” and couldn’t 大现身手. -lol- Thanks, Egghead for the dinner! Next time I bring you an egg as a token of gratitude. -lol-

We bid farewell after that, hoping to see them again in 2 months time. Hopefully by then, I can sit in Egghead’s car and see Loc Kee’s second child, which came into this world on the 18th. I drove myself to Jalan Ipoh and met up with Ah Nee. After driving around the area, we ended up in Milwaukee for a drink. Deja vu! I was back in Kepong again. -sweat-

After sending Ah Nee back at 12 midnight, I stopped by Feeling Cafe and had a small talk with Dion (The waitress.). It was nearly 1.30AM when I reached Chee Yong’s house, in UKM. With that, my 1 day trip came to an end.

KL 1-Day Trip - Part II

April 25th, 2006, Jason

Continue from Part I

I had trouble looking for my car at Mid Valley’s parking lot. Thank God I wrote down the level and area when I parked my car. It took me 10 minutes to find my own car. -sweat- I know, go laugh it out yourself. Anyway, I took the Kerinchi Link and it was 15 minutes later when I saw 1U on my left hand side. I called up Peek@Booh, asking her whether she would like to meet up since I have about an hour left before my dinner appointment. We met up at Bandar Menjalara and she took me to an Italian restaurant at Medan Putra called La Casa.

I ordered “Sunshine”, a mixture of pineapple, orange and carrot juice (I think, can’t remember.) while Peek@Booh ordered a glass of fresh mango lassie. Beverage, nothing special. But then, Peek@Booh’s mango lassie looked so pure and thick, as if it was made of 100% mango and not mixed with a single drop of water in it. I forgot to curi minum. -sighs-

We had sauteed mushrooms for appetizer. Soft and juicy mushrooms garnished with onions, crispy garlic bread (Although it totally lacks of garlic taste.). Did they use oyster sauce? Olive oil? Hmm… Smells very fragrant though.

Spaghetti, no fancy decoration, just plain seasonings and liquids oils which I think consists of fried onions oil and garlic oil. Its called “Aglio E Olio”, which I don’t know what it means. But names are not important, the taste is. I am not a noodle’s fan actually, but by the time I wanted to eat another strand, nothing much was left. I ordered beef lasagna, for my “snack”. It was a bit dry though, and there’s no bread or anything to eat with. If only they put more cheese in it and bake it so hot till the cheese melts into liquid forms.

We had Tiramisu for dessert. This is my first time eating Tiramisu. -shy- No need to explain, right? Soft and moist, sweet yet with a little bit of sour. Peek@Booh was telling me how and where Tiramisu came from. Its’ origin is Italy and all these while, I thought it was from Japan. I know, I need to read a lot more.

Strawberry and Apple Crumble was… was… was… I am speechless. It is cold, hot, sweet and sour, all at the same time. Hot because the grated green apples were steaming hot, cold because the vanilla flavoured ice cream. Sweet because of the strawberry jam that was poured over the icea cream. Sour because of the grated apples. Hot, cold, sweet and sour… Cold, hot, sour and sweet… Hot, cold, sour and sweet… Cold, hot, sweet and sour… All in 1 spoon. I bet Peek@Booh wanted to slap my face when I was eating this. You know, the heavenly, extremely happy and full of happiness look? If not mstaken, take a few green apples and grate it. Boil the thing till it is dry or something like 黄梨酥. Heat it up, and put a scoop of ice cream on top. Pour some strawberry jam / juice on it and it should taste more or less the same. The difficult and time consuming part would be the boiling the grated green apples. I am going to do this during the holidays, I swear!

All these cost us Peek@Booh RM70. And it was suppose to be a snack before my dinner with another group of bloggers. Snack, turned out to be dinner. Million thanks to Peek@Booh for bringing me to such a wonderful place and also for the snack. We both have one thing in common, we both love to eat and are willing to spend our money on it. Ha! She even said will bring me go eat… Eeerrr… Never mind. If I tell you, later you will throw tomatoes at me. -blek-

Oh, her picture? Nah!

-lol-

Peek@Booh, really thanks a lot for the wonderful “tea”. I enjoyed it to the maximum that I seriously, really wanted to cry when I was eating that stawberry and apple crumble. Not only it was delicious, but also because I never feel so pampered before, I was touched. -sniff sniff- Thank you and thank you, that’s all I can say.

I am so hungry after blogging about this. Since this post is long enough, with all the mouth watering pictures, I guess, it is just best to leave it as a standalone post before I continue with my dinner in Part 3.

KL 1-Day Trip - Part I

April 23rd, 2006, Jason

I woke up at 7.30AM and got myself ready for my unplanned 1-day trip in KL. By 8.30AM, I was cruising along the highway and traffic was smooth all the way. By 10AM, I was in PJ area and met up with Egghead to visit Twinsmom.

We reached Twinsmom’s house around 10:40AM and I helped myself with the chicken puff that Twinsmom baked for me us while the 2 adults and 3 children were not-so-happily playing at the balcony. Twinsmom enjoyed blowing the bubbles more than anyone of us there. -sweat- And you thought she was 18 plus 20 years old.

Little Luke was very cranky that day. Throughout the whole day, he was screaming crying “妈咪去做工!” (Mummy went to work!) but yet he kept on looking for mummy. He cried as if he were struck with asthma. -sweat- Egghead and Twinsmom were having problems dealing with Little Luke alone while I was happily eating the chicken puff looking on. It didn’t help when Isabelle, the really lazy and clingy worm was hanging onto Twinsmom all the time. I left around 12 noon because I needed to go to Mid Valley to meet up with another blogger. The story of Little Luke and the Belles is continued here and here.

The chicken puff was really awesome! Chunks of chicken cubes, with cheese as the sauce, garnished with spring onions, garlics and etc, with fluffy skin and the aroma of cheese, it was really delicious. I ate 3 of them within minutes and Twinsmom had to issue the order before I finished the rest. What?! I didn’t have my breakfast mah! What a wonderful world it is if this is my breakfast all the time. Ha!

I head over to Mid Valley after bidding farewell to Twinsmom and gave Emily a call.

“I will meet you at the center court.”, she said.

I have seen her pictures before, when she was still blogging at haze.upstaged.org. She has long, dark and straight hairs, a mixture of matured and student look, an average height of 160cm to 165cm, and shouldn’t be too difficult to recognize. So, I was taking my own sweet time walking towards the center court when suddenly, someone called.

“Jason, right?”

I turned around and it was Emily.

Emily, “You look exactly like in your blog.”

I nodded my head and my brain was in Pentium 4 Dual Core mode, trying to think how to reply her and start the conversation. I was really shocked, surprised, stunned and speechless when I saw her in person. She looked totally different from my imagination. She’s tall, up to my nose level, thats like 170cm. She’s matured looking. She permed / curled her hair. She applied make ups. She has a good figure. She is sizzling hot! She was just totally different from what I had imagined.

We had lunch in MFM. The lunch was great, with a variety of seafoods like prawns, fish, sotongs, deep fried mushrooms served with delicious and fragrant fried rice and a handful of fries. It was one thumb up. Ha! Emily sure can eat, I think we had an equal share of the set. Unlike previous dinner with JiNz, I had nearly 75% of the whole set. -sweat- We talked quite a lot, and even called up Juliana for a small chat. Emily always wanted to meet Juliana but Juliana doesn’t want to give face to other people. With great companion like Emily and a steady flow of conversations throughout the meal, I enjoyed the lunch.

Did I mention she is just 17? Her 18th birthday is in 2 more weeks though. I just realized I wore the same shirt, ate at the same franchise when I met up with JiNz last month.

After bidding farewell, I continued to the main event of the day - bloggers’ gathering at Dome Cafe at 2PM. Invitations were sent out to bloggers aged 18 to 24, targetting teenagers and young adults few weeks before the gathering. Well, since you can read about it in other people’s blog, I am lazy to write about it as well. There were about 30 plus attendees and I could say, everyone had a great time. I have met the people that I wanted to meet for a long time and it was my pleasure meeting you all. I guess, you know who you are, right?

The area that Dome reserved for us were quite dark. Therefore, most of the pictures were very blur. Well, if you want to read about it, you can hop by Yee Hou’s blog, whom he managed to take a picture with almost all the attendee.

A small conversation…

Suanie : And you are?

Jason : I am Jason, from “JasonMumbles.com”.

Suanie & Paul Tan : Oh! The Body Glove guy!

Jason : Err… Err… -shy shy-

People actually still remember the Body Glove incident, somemore they are Suanie and Paul Tan. -kembang-

It was almost 5.15PM when the gathering “officially” ended. I realized that I don’t enjoy as much as I do in big gatherings compare to small gatherings. I prefer in small numbers where I can really talk to, interact with, know who they are, read their blogs and etc. Perhaps, I feel closer with the person in that way. Well, million thanks to Chris (KampungKai) for accompanying me again, this time.

Click on to read smashpOp’s, Suanie’s, Leech’s post on the gathering. (Too many, am lazy to do all 30+ links. Sorry.)

I almost wanted to cancel my appointment with Peek@Booh, because I couldn’t make it in time since I had dinner appointment with Egghead, Milly and Loc Kee around 6.30PM. Thank God, I didn’t or else I would really cry till there’s no tomorrow.

Why?

Wait for the next post lah! -lol-

This And That…

April 21st, 2006, Jason

Remember when Ah Nee used my blog as a medium for her survery some time ago, she has completed her thesis.

And there were a few readers who requested for more photos of her. So, I present you Ah Nee’s latest batch of self centered taken photos.

Enjoy.

On the other hand, I will be in KL this weekend, for a function at Mid Valley this Saturday. If you want to meet up, give me a call at 012-6842434. My current plan is not finalized yet, but it should be more or less the same.

10AM - Visit Twinsmom at PJ.

12 Noon - Mid Valley. Hopefully can meet up with Emily and / or Peek@Booh.

2 -5PM - Not-so-private private function.

6PM - Dinner with Egghead, Loc Kee and Milly at Kepong.

10PM - Drop by Ah Nee’s place for a while.

11PM - Feeling Cafe, South City Plaza, Seri Kembangan. Meet up with Dion (The waitress.), Tiu Nia Sing (Maybe?), Chee Yong and Chun Kit.

Stay tune for my write ups.

My supervisor just called.

“There’s a new Vietnamese restaurant in Melaka Raya…”
“Is it? I want to do the assignment.”
“You are interested already?”
“Yes yes yes! (Excited.)”
“But I think we better wait for your ‘Mille Crepe‘ to be published first. Ok?”
“Ok. (Disappointed.)”

In my heart, “Damn…! ~!@#$%^&*()”

And I thought there will be free food for me. -groans-

Shouldn’t Bananas Be Yellow?

April 20th, 2006, Jason

Occasionally, my housemates will buy fruits to eat. After all, fruits are tasty and good for digestions. Green apples, apples, oranges, grapes, watermelons, honeydews, pineapples and pears are the normal ones.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Either they are plain forgetful or they just love to keep their food for unknown reasons, the fruits sometimes are left there unattended for weeks or sometimes months. Take for an example, the bananas they bought 2 weeks ago, it now looks like this.

-shakes head-

I wonder what would it look like if I peel the skin.

I was rummaging through the fridge and found out there’s KFC mashed potatoes and a chicken thigh cooked in oyster sauce which I believe has been there for at least 1 week. They were in the fridge since one of the housemates went back hometown and brought the food back.

Image hosting by Photobucket

I wonder how long it will “stay” in the fridge.
