The Keyboard Or The Mouse?

I was preparing to blog about “My Wish List” when this question came up - “Which is more important? A keyboard or a mouse?” Since it is such a debatable topic, might as well I write about it, right? So, here goes…

If one has to take away your keyboard or your mouse, which would you choose?

There are ONLY TWO answers - keyboard or mouse! Not other answers like “Both.”, “Take it and you will die.”, “I can borrow keyboard/mouse from another person.”, “I can go cybercafe”, “You can’t login to Windows without a keyboard” and many other answers.

It is either this, a 108 keys keyboard…

Or this, a 3-buttons mouse…

Taking your mouse :

1) You have to remember ALL the shortcuts.
2) You have to tab INFINITE TIMES just to get to a link, causing your surfing web experience to be pain in the ass.
3) DON’T even think of using programs like Photoshop, AutoCAD or any mouse intensive program.

Taking your keyboard away :

1) You DON’T have to remember ANY shortcuts.
2) You can surf the net NORMALLY.
3) You CAN still type with internal keyboard programs in your Microsoft Word, Chinese Star and even keyboard mapping in your “Accessories” folder; but typing would be extremely pain in the ass.

So, which would you choose? The keyboard or the mouse? And why?

In my opinion, Windows is designed to function even if only with the keyboard. It may have the on-screen keyboard but how fast can you type with it? That will take forever wouldn’t it?

Speaking of Photoshopping, isn’t wordprocessing more common? More people out there use Microsoft Word hence the keyboard is still essential. The general user have been spoiled by the invention of the mouse and convenience it brings.

I would choose to let go the mouse. Cos I can still use the PC for ordinary tasks like web surfing, word processing, and even programming without mouse (at degraded convenience), but it’s extremely painful to do these tasks without the presence of a keyboard.

Practice shortcut keys as part of your life, and you would find it absolutely useful (at faster pace as well) when you were to operate the PC and perform some tasks without mouse hehe

    Mouse. Reasons:

I already rarely use my mouse. I use mainly keyboard at work. Shortcuts all in memory already. Plus it’s faster. Clicking just slows you down. Alot. Esp when it comes to manipulating large amounts of data. Can’t really do anything if you have a mouse and no keyboard. I think I’ll die first. :P

    keyboard for me anytime.
certain machines will not boot up without a keyboard.
normally my both hands are on the keyboard, and I hate to go grab the mouse.
