My Breakfast (Hong Kong Style?)

7 o’clock in the morning, I should be sleeping but I was not.

Reasons? They were :
- my insomnia struck again. In fact, it started since Monday.
- my mind is still drafting the password protected post.
- was setting up / managing a homepage for Rotary Club of Tampin.
- was waiting for a stall to open so that I can have my breakfast cum dinner for I skipped lunch and dinner yesterday.

What I had for breakfast? Not my favourite “Nasi Lemak“, not my favourite “Big Pau“, not my favourite “Dim Sum” also. It is something simple, plain yet delicious and satisfying. You get to see it on Hong Kong drama series, especially when the scene is about having breakfast at home.

The answer is plain old pork porridge with crispy “Yao Char Kuai 油炸鬼” and extra meat! -grins-

Have you tried porridge Beijing style? It’s plain porridge (absolutely nothing inside) with ‘man tou’ (plain pau; absolutely nothing inside). The ordinary Beijingites-on-the-street have that for breakfast almost every morning.

Wow! Plain porridge with man tou! Carbo overload! I’ll be asleep at my desk by 10! Then again we don’t work as hard as those Beijingites!

Do you know what I miss most??

    Chinese breakfast!!

Where I work and live you cannot find Chinese breakfast, chee-cheong-fun, king-jai-meen, wu-tao-gou.. aigh.. so sad..

I’m a non-pork eater.. so your bowl of pork poridge didn’t tempt me at all.. but reminded me of other Chinese break fast..
