I Am Jealous Of My Sis
Being daddy’s girl, my sis – Jamie Lioh got her first mobile phone few days ago. A spanking new Sony Ericsson K700i that cost RM725. Initially, my dad budgeted RM600 for her phone. However, RM600 could not get a decent phone, so, my dad increased the budget to RM750. There is nothing wrong with that, right? At first, I felt jealous. Why?
When I wanted to get my own mobile phone…
Dad : “I don’t see any need of you having a mobile phone.”
Mum : “It is a waste of money. 浪费钱!”
When my sis wanted to get her own mobile phone…
Dad : “I will buy for you after your SPM.”
Mum : “Up to you (Dad). 随便你.”
Dad : “You are on your own. I am not sponsoring you.”
Mum : “I won’t sponsor you. 我才不要给钱你买电话。”
When my sis was in the shop buying her phone…
Dad : “RM725? OK. Ask your friend (My friend.) to order one for her tomorrow.”
Mum : “…… (No comment.)”
Side note : I spent the money I earned from my part time jobs for my phone. RM450 for my Nokia 3310 and RM280 for my 012 prepaid sim pack. I forked out all RM730 on my own.When I got my phone…
Dad : “A waste of money.”
Mum : “Worth it? 值得吗?”
When my sis got her phone…
Dad : “Jamie, bring your phone and let me see.”
Mum : “Get more A’s in your SPM, OK?”
When I wanted to change my phone to Nokia 6100…
Dad : “What’s the point of getting a colour screen phone?”
Mum : “Why you want to buy such an expensive phone? 买酱贵的电做么?”
When my mum reluctantly sponsored me RM250 for my new phone…
Mum : “This RM250 is extra one. 这 RM250 是多余的.”
Dad : “Why don’t want to buy a cheaper phone? RM400 also got a good one already, right?”
However, after thinking about it, I do not feel jealous anymore. Why?
I do not feel good if I am to see my sis working part time job like me just to buy a mobile phone.
I do not feel good if my parents sponsor my desires or unnecessary stuffs.
I am able to buy things that I want, like and desire without consulting my parents. Although it will be better if I do, is not it?
I am a guy and it is better and more responsible if I work hard for the things that I desire instead of relying on my parents.
I do not feel obliged to report to my friends or feel guilty if I drop, spoil or lost my phone. Although it will be better if I do, is not it?
Ok-lah. I admit, I am still jealous because my sister’s phone is better than mine! How can?!?!?!
Anyway, I am looking out for freelance work to earn some extra income and Mystiq Angel is trying to help me one way or another. Hopefully, within 6 months, I will get myself a kick ass mobile phone. Yes, it will be.

hhmmm..My parents did it to me too.. But its good. Actually my parent is training me to be independent. And I feel proud to say “I earn this hp myself with my blood and sweat”

1. your sister dem good in exams….always score alot of A’s. Parents normally willing to spend more on them as a reward.
2. your sister is girlgirl….precious……in a way if they buy her a phone, they can check on her anytime. And, girl go out more dangerous, got phone can call home if anything happens.

it’s rather common for parents to side the youngest daughter. what to do? must pamper mar. anyway, parents also see your age and if you’re working. i suppose it’s one of those they expect and want their son to behave like an adult and yada yada..

mmm… i’m the youngest with only one brother who’s 8 yrs older… but i also worked for every accessories i want. no sponsor lar… even now still have 2 part time jobs to make me survive while studying full time in mmu. what to do, gotta pay my own bills and fuel even staying with parents still… hehee so we’re all tough fellas *wooh* :D btw, anybody interested for a part time job in coffee bean? let me know~

Hahaha… I like this post.
I am still using my own Nokia 6610. the System begin to show problem these days, hinting me that it is time for me to change a new phone, but I am on tight budget recently, and I need a new phone.
Due to my new business, I may require some frequent travelling around locally. I am not sure what should I get first. I need 3 things:
1. mobile phone. Either Nokia 6230i (RM1400), very neat businessman phone. or SE 750i (RM1500)
2. PDA. Either a Dell Axim (RM1500) or XDA O2 IIs (RM3500+)
3. new light weight notebook. Dell X1 (RM7000)
Too many things to buy, too little money.

You are jealous solely because your sister got your dreamed hp LOL :P
I think you can take egghead’s previous advice to me: “Get a hp which you can make & received phone calls + SMS enough lah!”. It will definitely make your life easier ;)
Btw, I think it is more healthy to direct your jealousy towards your cousemates who got better grades. At least it motivates you to improve on your result; you can save on the money for resit, and use it to buy a Sony Ericsson K750i :D It is more cost-effective for Mr. Gadget guy, right?

ey..come on lar.. I also had to pay for my own phone,k ? Driving license & everything.. Bought my Nokia 2100 last year with my brains and probably a bit of luck. PMR mar.. Costs me about RM250, not much but still.. *sigh* .. I’m still using it.. keypad also siao adi.. and can’t afford to repair or get a new phone.. cham-nya..

Daughters are always lucky ya??? Sigh… i call this siblings rivary. When my sis comes back for holidays from the states, mum will treat her like a princess, and i’ll definately be the slave. All i hear from her is “mop the floor, pack the things, everyday know how to on9 only, can’t u help around?” ARGH… i dun like to have sisters! guys rulezzzz… luv my bro, cool guy. Times change. At that time it was still a partial transition. Parents are still adapting themselves to new technology, new culture and new environment. HPs were once a luxuries. Only Rangers or 黑社会大?got BIG Hps. Which now we can use it to hit dogs. Lolx. At our time, hp is slowly being acknowledge. So when it comes to their time getting a hp is much easier.
