Dreams… 10 Years From Now

Note : This post will be a reminder to myself, so that I will work and save money for our dreams.

Chee Yong : “10 years from now, do you have any plans or know what you will be doing?”

10 years from now, what would I be doing? I absolutely have no idea. I might be an engineer, a beggar, a food outlet waitress, a manager of some company, a bus driver, or even a salesman. However, that does not stop us from dreaming. Recently, Chee Yong suggested that we start our own business or start a café of our own (similar to Feeling or Wings) by the age of 28 or at least, before 30. Each of us will come up with a minimum of RM15k or more, while the remaining, we will have to get a loan from the bank instead. You might be laughing in front of your screen now, but I do know, with Chee Yong and Chun Kit as my business partner, I see the light and hope there.

Chee Yong is a guy who has ambition, determination, management skills, and leadership quality. He has a mass knowledge in business related field as his family runs a family business and he was given numerous chances and responsibility to look after the shop whenever his parents are not around. He has a huge network of friends and knows when and how to grab the opportunity. He is always the one who suggests various ideas to us. (The twist during our holiday trip was his idea.) I am very sure, when it comes to setting up the café, Chee Yong will be playing an important role from the start till the end. Most likely, he will be the one managing our café, or in other words, the manager.

Chun Kit, on the other hand, is not able to make important decisions and is quite fickle minded. He lacks the motivation to push him further and make himself stronger. However, when it comes to money and financial issues, he is the best person to consult to. He is able to plan, budget, estimate, expect, foresee and of course, handle accounts and money. He has a more sensible mind and always analyses the situation and issue deeply before making any conclusions. (He is always forced to agree to our crazy ideas.) He will tell us the pros and cons of each suggestion from a neutral stance. With him handling our money, loans and financial issue, I have 100% confidence in him.

I have to admit that I know nuts about management, financial and business. I have problems dealing with any financial issue, even with my own pocket money. I do not know how to lead a team or a group of people, what more to manage them. Business? What is that? Therefore, there is only one place for me, which is none other than the kitchen. –lol- Perhaps I will be ordering ingredients, meats, cooking utensils, managing the kitchen, supervising the chefs, waiters and waitress and creating new dishes and beverages every now and then. Other than that, I shall just leave it to them.

Somehow, it is not the profit or money that I will gain by starting our own business. I agreed to join Chee Yong’s ambition without thinking twice and how difficult it will be, because I know, three of us will definitely make our dreams come true, one day. Each of our own strength has covered each other’s weakness. Not only that, being good friends for the past 15 years, the amount of trust, confidence and understanding that I have for them are the basic foundations of our business. It is not the profit that I want to gain, but the fun, thrill, excitement, happiness, problems, troubles, and the time we spend together is what I am looking forward to as we set up our own café.

Ah Kit and Ah Yong, I believe, we will do it, one day! Just one day…!

Auntie Shiau Lin can be the consultant for our interior design. Auntie Maria can help us design the menu, table decorations, pictures, posters, flyers and etc. Earl-Ku can send some people over to watch the place. Kai Hong can be my white rat for the food/beverage that I cooked. Carol can be…

Then, maybe we can give all the bloggers (that I know and read) a discount card, let say 30%? Perhaps, a bloggers’ night?

My Hainanese’s Wind (海南癫) just blew. –lol-

P/S :

Three of us are planning another holiday trip during early November. Our currently on-the-list destination will be Perak, Penang, Kelantan and Terengganu. We will drive around Malaysia again, with the same people, but with Chee Yong’s new car which comes with a LCD monitor.

Chun Kit will arrange our accomodations. He always manage to get the cheapest rate for a good hotel with his discount cards, credit cards and informations. I have no idea how he do it though. Chee Yong will be the driver throughout the trip. Me? What else but food? I have enough information about food from Perak and Penang, but I lack of Kelantan’s and Terengganu’s. Help me, anyone?

Just for remembrance and “shiok sendiri”.

I realize dreams are dreams but some people can be so optimistic. As a pessimist, I can’t say too well of it but rather, grab chances that came along my way…

Grace : Yes, three of us will be working for it. Make sure you come yeah, I give you 35% discount. :bpbp Err, see how my cooking skills, if lousy, I better do nothing. Haha!

Egghead : We are still deciding between KL or Malacca. Free food? What if you come 365 days for 365 meals? Hahaha! Kidding. Include you har? We will consider, first.

Belacan : Yeah, maybe a Bloggers’ themed cafe. ;) You tolong audit, don’t charge too expensive yah~! (Don’t buaya my waitresses also! -lol-) Alright, thanks for the tip.

Yong Kian : Thanks for linking me. Yeah, we will work hard for it, I hope.

Shiau Lin : Have to go so far, somemore 人生地地熟. Better don’t want lah~! Somemore so far from home, tak mau tak mau! Count you in again? Hmm, see first.

Earl-Ku : Wah seh, if I know you so beria-ria with your name, I wouldn’t have whiten out your name ler.

Milly : Its just a dream only, for now. My computer engineering? If I can graduate lah~! Haha! 50%, cannot!

Kai Hong : Give you free food still want to ah chi ah chor? Hmph~! Kick you out one hor! Hahaa! Ya, got any tips where to get the best food? Don’t dissapoint me har!

Ice Queen : Haha! Don’t know, its my dreams and I will try to achieve it within 10 years from now.

Simon : Blog about our cafe like “Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Eat/Drink/Hang Out At My Cafe” then I will give you 50% discount! Haha!

Hao : You fail? You must be joking.

Anonymous : Why didn’t write out your name so that I can adress you mah! Anyway, thanks for reading my blog. ;) Thanks for the tips, but where and which stall to get them?

MengZ : Engineering course is super tough, so maybe thats why all engineers have back up plan? Hmm, RM15k is a little less, but we might find other people (our buddies) and join venture together. Then, it will be quite an amount of money. The rest, we will get a loan from the bank. Thanks!

Jase Lee : I’m kinda a pessimist as well, but somehow, with them around, I see the hope there. Perhaps, we will create a chance/an opportunity and grab it ourselves instead?

Anonymous : Very big meh? Haha! Other people would have been thinking to kick start a MNC by the age of 28 or earning billions by the age of 28.

Earl-Ku : Yalah, we need bouncers to jaga our place mah~! Haha! In other word, jaga or security. -lol- Protection fee? Can can, how much per month? LOL.

doing business together with BEST friends always a RISK. a risk of losing them…

make sure every one agreed on their responsibility and benefit. everything must be written black and white initially (no use later).

when come to $ later, sure got argument, especially making good business and good money, people will think that contribute more than others…

    careful. anyway, pre-wish u luck 1st :)

Leecs : I doubt we will face that situation. Although the piority is money, but somehow, we are looking forward to our own business and doing stuffs together. 3 of us have been best friends for a long time, and mutual agreements are there already. So, perhaps, we wont face such situation. After all, the business is our side income, not our main job. We will continue work as engineer, programmer and financial analyst, just that the business will bring us side income and something that we can claim as ours and also a place to chill.

Thanks for the advice and wishes. ;)
