Seremban’s Beef Noodles, Sugarcane Juice And “Rojak”

We (Chun Kit and me) were driving back to Tampin on Saturday afternoon, when we got caught in the highway jam near Seremban. It was lunch time and we decided to exit at Seremban to fill our empty stomach and also to avoid the traffic jam at the highway. The only 2 foods and 1 beverage that came to my mind at that moment were Seremban Market’s “Beef Noodles”, “Rojak” and “Sugarcane Juice”.

The “Beef Noodles” in Seremban is totally different from what I had with Earl-Ku in Petaling Street (Not PPS the blog portal!) the other day. It is also totally different from Tangkak’s “Beef Noodles” as well. The above picture is the “Beef Noodles” I ate in Petaling Street, while the bottom picture is the one I ate in Seremban. See the huge difference between the two?

The noodles they used are made by themselves, which tastes very similar to “Lou Shu Fan 老鼠粉” but has the length of the normal noodles. Instead of thick soya sauce, they used home made beef patty and a lot more unknown ingredients to create their very own and special sauce. As far as I know, it is a recipe that the old couples created themselves. The old lady will put some peanuts, pickles and sprinkle lots of sesame seed onto the noodles before it is served.

It costs RM5 per bowl. However, if you want to eat their beef meatballs, you have to order another bowl of beef meatballs, which costs RM5 per bowl or RM0.50 per meatball. I think it is a little bit expensive but when comes to eating, price should never be your fear factor. Not all the time though! –coughs- The soup is also tasty, boiled with Chinese herbs, spices and more beef. Do not be fooled by its grayish and clear soup, it has just enough tastes to stun your taste buds. They said Ling (Lim?) Liong Sik (Malaysia’s previous transport minister) once came to eat their “Beef Noodles” too.

Another must try is the “Sugarcane Juice”, which is just next to the “Beef Noodles” stall. The colour of the juice is very light in colour, unlike the normal sugarcane juice that is dark green in colour. However, I dare to say and bet RM100 on it that it tastes as sweet as those dark green coloured sugarcane juice and yet, it will never be too sweet. The sweetness is just perfect, right at that neutral point.

After having our lunch, I went to buy the “Rojak”, which is also another must-eat dish when you are in Seremban Market. The stall offers two type of “Rojak” only, or rather one to be exact – with and without noodles. It is quite similar to the Malay’s “Rojak”, as they basically use the same ingredients like potatoes, “Tau Fu”, bean sprouts, cucumbers and I-do-not-know-what-is-it. I bought 5 packets home for my family members and glad that my father still enjoys eating it as usual.

If you happen to pass by Seremban during lunch hour or late afternoon, do make a stop at Seremban and find your way to Seremban Market. The stalls are at the 3rd floor and you will never miss it. There are many more delicacy like “Char Kuey Teow“, “Steamed Chicken with Porridge”, “Fish Head BeeHoon with Milk” and all types of wet curry powder in Seremban waiting for me to try, but I never like to go Seremban as there is nothing to do, nothing to shop, nothing to see and every street is jammed.

I remember King’s from years ago when my ex-boyfriend took me there on a lazy weekend afternoon. I just rang a friend who hails from Seremban to see if he could give me directions to the Seremban market. This time I’m going with the love of my life….hopefully he’ll still want me after he sees me stuff my face (like I did the first time!) LOL but it was REALLY yummy….

Fully agree with jasan ’s recommandation, used to go s’ban coz lots friend there.
Beef noodles really the best ! But please try only stall no. 748 The old man is the ORIGINAL……he’s still there as cashier. The old man’s daughter is selling same family beef noodle at a corner lot air-cond ( very presentable outlet ) in Kemayan Square but I still prefer the original at market.

Jason, ur next trip can look out for Sotong Bee Hoon ( at a corner same row as # 748 ), also for Tow Kee stall for Hakka noodle (superb). Then, Dry Loh See Fun ……Chinese rojak. Even the wan tan mee taste better. But as i know market place only open for Breakfast & Lunch. No ?

Out from market, many more nice foods !

i am from kl but now living in seremban. i have tried the beef noodle in the market many many times….it is reaa….lly good.

but there is a new restaurant in town itself…new, modern, has wi-fi even, air-conditioned….the food is fantastic! apparently it is the original…
it is a little bit more pricy but i think they give more lo shu fun than the one in the market…and plus for the comfort…price is not an issue!

there is also, a superb steamed “sang yu”, porridge, frog’s leg and even eel! the steam fish is a must try! but you will need to be there early especially on weekends. ( reach there before 11pm) it is near the seremban market ( next to a famous seremban BBQ crab). coming from kl, exit at labu exit, turn left and then left again after bus terminal, straight ahead and it will be on the left. it is a small food court selling claypot chicken rice in front.

    try it!
