Meeting Juliana - Day 1

After failing to meet up with Juliana in 3 attempts, we finally managed to meet up last Tuesday (7/6/05) when she was in Malacca for a holiday trip with her friends. I was extremely nervous as it was the first time meeting Juliana in person. To make things worse, there were another 10 to 12 persons whom I did not know as well. I have problem talking to my own friends already, what more a big group of strangers?! I had at least one dozen of butterflies in my stomach.

Juliana and her friends arrived at Malacca at noon time and they were going to have the famous Hainanese’s chicken rice ball for lunch at Jonker Street. They went to the place (The hustler mentioned about this shop in this post.) with their Malacca’s friends, whom would be their tour guide in Malacca as well. Supposedly, I would meet Juliana in the shop and have lunch with her and their friends. However, I got freaked out as the pressure of meeting 12 persons was tremendous and they were already waiting for their orders to come. I decided to abandon the idea of meeting Juliana. Her back was facing the main road and was sitting at the corner of the table. I saw them while I was waiting and observing from my auntie’s office. Since I freaked out, I went to Mahkota Parade to catch 2 movies – “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Mahjong” while waiting for the time to meet with Juliana during dinner time. (In my opinion, it was better than “Shark Tales” but on par with “Finding Nemo”. However, I think I should stop watching animation movies in the cinema, but “Kung Fu Mahjong” was definitely worth the money. I bought the tickets at RM5 per movie by showing them my student ID card.)

After spending 5 hours in Mahkota alone, kicking at least 4 people’s asses in the arcade game of “King Of Fighters”, Juliana and her friends have finally decided to have “Satay Celup” for dinner. Their tour guide suggested Capitol’s Satay Celup instead of Ban Lee Siang’s Satay Celup. “No! Not Capitol’s!” I said to Juliana, but she could not do anything also as it was not her who made the decision. Anyway, I reached there first and was surprised to see my senior – Mark and his girl friend there. After chatting a little bit, I realized that he was part of the group that Juliana and her friends joined with. That made me felt less nervous, at least, I did know ONE guy from their group. The world sure is small, very small indeed. We sat down while waiting for another group of friends who were still looking for parking.

After bout 5 minutes, then came the other group, so did Juliana.

“Hai, Jason.”

That was the first sentence when Juliana saw me and I was so freaked out shy that I only shook her hands to greet her. After we sat down, she introduced her friends to me – Ya Ling, Irene, YM (Not Yahoo! Messenger.), Tarzan (Hmm…), Kampai (Not the alcoholic drink.), and 2 more, whom I have forgotten their name. We did not talk much throughout the “celup” session, as I was really shy, brain dead and tongue tied. It was quite a funny sight and also slightly embarrassing situation. Thanks to Mark who talked to Juliana, else she would be bored to death by just sitting next to me.

After that, Ah Wee (the tour guide) suggested to go Wings, a café which is similar to K.L.’s Halo Café after having a walk at one of Malacca’s hot spots for lovers. Since I could not mix well with Juliana and her friends yet, I decided to skip it and meet them again in Wings after that. However, shit happened and I ended up going back home instead. Do not ask. It was alright as I would be meeting them again tomorrow as I would be bringing them to A Famosa’s Water World.

P/S :

No pictures yet as I did not bring my camera along that night.

For your information, Ban Lee Siang is Papi’s and my favourite place to eat “Satay Celup”. I am going to blog about this one day – “Why Ban Lee Siang is better than Capitol.”

Capitol at Jalan Temenggung very conjested, building very old. And then must queue up very long.

Ban lee Xiang at Jalan Ong Kim Wee very big, very new, no need to queue up for half an hour.

Madagascar is the worst 3D animation I’ve seen. The jokes are tasteless. The story is completely rubbish. and Shark Tales is not anywhere better than Madagascar.

Finding Nemo is anytime way better than any of these show.

before i started having my satay celup, jason already told me Rats, lizards and cockroaches were found in the gravy.
then i just lost my appetite.

across the other table were my friends who were happily gobbling the food.

i am not particular about food, because i’m not a food enthusiast.
however, it was nice that i’ve finally get to know what exactly is Satay celup.

would like to say thank you to jason for coming up with the ong kim wee road suggestion.

i regret that i couldn’t make you our host because we were staying at another friends’ place.

i also apologize for pissing you off when i never miss call you when we were at Wingz. it would be much easier if u’d joined us to the seaside for a while before going to Wingz—i don’t really see the difference of not following.
anyhow, because we only stopped by for a while, left after the live performance was over, that’s why i never miss call you.

The satay celup was nothing great - The first time i tried, everything u tasted was only the sauce - irregardless of whatever u took. Don’t understand why got people want to crowd outside the shop to queue also..

Eh, I want to see Juliana lar!
