My Holiday Trip - Day 2
Click here to read about my holiday trip – Day 1.
It was about 7AM when we woke up to get ready for breakfast and check out. The air was fresh but cold and the weather was rather gloomy that morning. We checked out the hotel at 9AM after having breakfast and taking photos. As expected, the hotel serves typical breakfast which is nothing to boast about. However, I love to eat cereal especially “Koko Krunch” with chilled milk whenever I am having breakfast in a hotel. It is expensive to eat cereal for breakfast every morning after all. –grins-

We drove down to the tea station, which is situated beside a tea plantation, to have some hot beverage and take some pictures of the scenery as it was raining when we came yesterday. I drank strawberry flavoured tea at the same place yesterday. We ordered “Cameron Tea” which cost us RM16 per pot and we enjoyed ourselves by sitting down and chit-chatting for about 1 hour.

After that, we went to another shop to have another round of breakfast. Not we, only me. –grins- The shop is opposite HSBC Bank in Tanah Rata. It is inside a 2 storey building and the shop is facing the hill, not the main road. I ordered mixed grill which cost me RM11.90 and I suggest you give it a try if you are in Cameron Highlands. The shop offers a lot of varieties from noodles to steaks and business hour is from7AM to 5PM. Then we started to visit the various tourist spot like Unc Sac Farm, Cactus Valley, Cactus Point, Bee Farm, Rose Valley, Strawberry Park, Market Point and a lot more.

At about 3PM, we were already on our way down hill and ready to go back home. After all, we planned for a 2 days 1 night trip in Cameron Highlands only. I was 80% asleep as nobody bothered to talk and we were quite tired as well when, suddenly, Chee Yong suggested that we go Penang instead of going back.
Chun Kit was shocked and I was excited when I heard the word “Penang”. Chun Kit was surprised because this was not in our plan at all. Not only we did not have enough clothes, but we also have bought our fresh strawberries, strawberry ice creams, flowers and even vegetables to bring back home. Besides, we have told our parents that we would be back before 12 midnight. Too bad I did not take any photos of his shocking expression, else you would say that we have bullied him and scold us instead. I was excited because of all the food that is available in Penang, especially after reading “Penang Faces” by Auntie Lilian.
Chee Yong, Lee Hwee and I were all set to go Penang and Chun Kit has yet to decide. He tried to give all sorts of reasons and excuses to make us cancel the idea of going Penang but it was all in vain as the force was not with him at that moment. After 40km long of persuading and “forcing” by Chee Yong and me, Chun Kit finally was forced to join the dark side and agreed to go Penang. He was grumbling all the way and could not believe that he would actually agree with our crazy plan. I called and told my dad about our change of plans and my dad said, “You all are mad people.”
We reached Ipoh at about 4.30PM and we went to Jusco to do a little bit of shopping. We have to get some clothes as we have run out of clothes to wear. Penang was not in our plan, remember? We went to Giordano (My favourite brand!) and bought the basic round neck T-shirt, at the price of RM15 each. I was happy because I have added another colour to my collection. For your information, I have orange, red, black, sky blue, grey, bright orange and now, yellow. The special thing is that they are all the same design – round neck T-shirt, same size – XL but with different colours only. Practically, I wear Giordano every day and even my favourite jacket is from Giordano! –lol-
We left Ipoh at 6.30PM and we were crossing Penang Bridge at about 8.30PM. Chee Yong and I were laughing evilly as we were crossing the bridge while Chun Kit shook his head in disbelief. We followed the sign board to Batu Ferringi as we intended to stay at some hotel near the sea. After checking out 2 hotels, we decided to stay in the Crown Jewel hotel which cost us RM113 per night. Although it is cheap, the room is wonderful. I supposed the price was low due to the tsunami that happened few months ago. Not many people are willing to stay beside the sea and competition around that area is very stiff.
After checking in, we went to Gurney Drive to have our dinner. “Char Kuey Teow“, “Asam Laksa”, “Bubur Cha Cha”, “Zhi Ma” and some fried stuffs were on the menu. We sat down there for another 90 minutes to look around, especially girls, and had a little walk at the waterfront before heading back to the hotel.

I was replying Juliana’s SMS with my eyes half closed and somebody used “the idiot” to address me in one of her SMS. It was about 12 midnight when all of us were sleeping like a dead log.

Satish : It been 3 years since I last visit Cameron Highland, I doubt I can help much.
stayed at Strawberry Park, rather expensive for weekends if you ask me. You can find a lot of apartments and hotels along your way and also on Internet. Try googling and you have quite a number of them.
As for nice places to visit, its the usual tea plantation, flower plantation, hibiscus farm, strawberry farm and etc. As long as you are in Cameron Highlands, you won’t miss them as thats what the highland is all about, plantation.s :)
