Lucky Day

April 22nd, 2005, Jason

Warning : This is a “shiok sendiri” post.

After delivering the boiling “bean bean” to NeeNee the other day, I was at her house doing blog surfing when NeeNee popped up a question.

“Have you eaten your breakfast?”
“No.
“I cooked ‘mee’ for you, want or not?”
“Scare you ah~!” -giggling-
“Hoho~!” -giggling-

Then, she talked to her mum while I was hopping from one blog to another. Then, not long after that, I was served with a plate of “老鼠粉” (Lao Shu Fen) for my breakfast. Apparently, she went to cook breakfast for me, with A LOT of help from her mum though. So sweet! Coincidently, it is my favourite too. Hehe! Now, am I a lucky bastard of what? Yeah, I think I am. -lol-

Later in the evening, Xiao Hui, NeeNee and I went for a movie - “Sahara” which I would rate a 3.5 out of 10. Its kinda boring for the first 45 minutes, the action was nothing to “hu-ha” about and only the jokes were kind of funny. Watch the show with your student card or on Wednesday and when you got extra 2 hours to spend.

Then, we went for “Satay Celup” and “Tong Sui” before going back to Tampin. By the time I dropped them off, it was 12.30AM.

Although there were few moments of awkward silence, but it was still fun. I personally think that I talked a little bit more on that day too. Weird! May be it was because of the noodles I ate that morning that created some miracles. -lol-

Thanks a lot, Nee! -wink-

Acquiring A Taste For “Ayam Percik Buntut”

April 21st, 2005, Jason

Extract : Ayam percik is an East Coast specialty but Jason Lioh is convinced that the best stall is near his hometown Tampin, Negeri Sembilan.

I never knew what ayam percik was or how delicious it was until my friend and I had a taste of Pak Hassan’s concoction in Hutan Percha, about 12km away from Tampin, Negeri Sembilan.

The “restaurant” turned out to be a wooden house near the police station. It was not hard to find; we just let the aroma of the chicken guide us. It was full house, and we had to wait for a table. To appease my rumbling stomach, we started ordering our food even when there was no available table in sight.

It worked out nicely though, becase the food arrived as soon as we sat down. The streaming hot barbecued chicken was split open and secured firmly onto a bamboo stick with wires. The chicken is barbecued until almost cooked, before being basted with gravy.

It is then barbecued again until fully cooked.Ayam percik is best served hot from the barbecue pit, when it is at its most fragrant. Forks are provided, but there is nothing like devouring the chicken morsels with your fingers. It is a bit messy but much more satisfying. Besides, that is one of the joys of eating in an unpretentious roadside stall.

The specialty there is the buntut percik, or bishop’s nose. I could not stomach the thought of eating bishop’s nose, and opted for plain old chicken breasts. It was delicious and gravy pretty divine - tasty and sweetish, a little like tomato sauce but spicier.

My not-at-all-squeamish friend ordered five sticks of the bishop’s nose.

“You eat that? Yucks!,” I asked my friend, in amazement.

He was unperturbed and asked me not to pass judgement until I had tried the dish.

I hesitated, but decided to be brave and try the stick of bishop’s nose he was thrusting at me.

It was amazingly tender and juicy. It was really so delicious that what passed through the particular organ no longer bothered me. The next minute both of us were fighting for the last piece.

According to Pak Hassan, the bishop’s nose is their best-selling ite,. Some customers call in advance to book the dish because it is usually the first dish to be sold out. He sells almost 200 pieces of chicken a day, but Pak Hassan’s stall is only open on Friday and Sunday. Business starts at about 3PM, and closes by about 6.30PM.

One of my friends tell me that there is an even better ayam percik stall in the East Coast, but this Hutan Percha stall is the best around Tampin.

I Am Back!

April 20th, 2005, Jason

Warning : This is a meaningless post.

I am back in Malacca for the mean time. I feel so good after being connected to the “matrix”. It has been about 4 days since I left the “matrix” to go back to Tampin. I shall just write a brief report about what have I done so far.

I am supposed to :

1) To meet up with NeeNee for her sushi eating cum bonding session.

Jason said :
Done! Blogged!

2) To change my car’s old tire after 1 year of drifting on the trunk road.

Jason said :
Done! Tires’ gripping are better and I can drive faster. Oh yeah, I worked in a tire shop for 1 week before and I have forgotten to write it in my part time job resume.

3) To read all 10 issues of comics – “绝世无双” that I have missed.

Jason said :
Done! The comic has finally ended after nearly 4 years, with a total of 192 issues. I started reading from the first issue until now. His previous comic, “绝代双骄” which was based on a novel written by “古龙” was a hit in the comic world and in par with the famous “风云” (“Stormriders”). This comic is a 100% original comic of himself; from the storyline, characters and kung fu were all his own ideas. The storyline was based on the history of China, when the Mongolians invaded China. I am not going to blog this.

3) To hang out at my favourite place – ABC stall.

Jason said :
Done! I spent 6 hours in the shop reading the comic there, drinking “ABC” “Bubur Cha Cha”, “Liu Wei” and “Pang Da Hai”. I shall blog about this stall because a lot of stories happened here. It was the place where Adeline and I met, I confessed to a girl with fake (plastic) roses, I spent my time after school every day, my family members and I would meet up for the past 6 years and a lot more.

4) To boil “Bean Bean” (soya bean) for NeeNee.

Jason said :
Done! Blogged!

5) To eat “Ayam Percik” and meet up with my junior – Chia Qi.

Jason said :
Done! The chicken still tastes that good and unique. I have written an article about this and was featured in Ole Brats, The Star some time ago. (I earned RM120 for that.) I shall retype the article and blog about it, but it will come with pictures this time. It will be uploaded tomorrow morning, stay tune!

6) To eat my favourite “Longkang Mee”.

Jason said :
Done! Thumbs up! It will be featured in “Jason Mumbles” as well. “Longkang Mee”, sounds interesting, is not it? Who will eat noodles that come from “Longkang” drains? Only the locals and Sarawak-ians, I supposed.

7) To eat the used to be famous “Kuih Udang”.

Jason said :
Nope. I skipped this one in this trip.

8) To eat Tampin “Satay”.

Jason said :
Done! The stall owner is still that “lan si lan yong” and I still have to wait until 2AM to eat. If I am to eat earlier than 2AM, I have to barbecue the “satay” myself. Duh~! I shall blog about this too!

I also killed my time in Tampin by :

1) Going cyber café to read blogs, update my blog, comment on friends’ blog, chat with friends.

Jason said :
It was a bad experience. I am considering of to go back Tampin if and only my new house has Streamyx Screamyx.

2) Driving without destination around Tampin.

Jason said :
It was nice to drive alone around Tampin with nice songs played on the radio, minus the few rounds of checking by police though. The police in Tampin were very hardworking, no doubt! Even the town mayor was seen driving around in the housing estates to keep an eye on the police so that they do their job. Petrol? Daddy pumped full tank for me.

3) Loitering around in my house and played SMS with Juliana and NeeNee.

Jason said :
There goes my hand phone credit and I have to reload again soon, latest by this weekend.

There are few things that worth mentioning here though.

1) Tampin got a 24 hours convenient store, 7-11 and it has been operating for 1 month already. I did not know that until I passed by the shop when I came back.

2) My mum did not nag me for 2 days already, not even a single word. However, we only talked bout less than 10 sentences within 4 days. Yes, less than 10 sentences. I could even remember what she said. However, my mum cooked my favourite dishes though. Hehe!

3) NeeNee, Xiao Hui and I went for a movie - “Sahara” on Tuesday. We had “Satay Celup” and “Tong Sui” after the movie though. The outing was fun. -wink-

Thanks for reading my endless grumbling and mumbling about the days I were in Tampin. Hehe! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s update. I think I shall limit myself to 1 post per day, what do you think?

Boiling Soya Bean

April 19th, 2005, Jason

As usual, whenever I am back in Tampin and NeeNee is on holidays and in Tampin, part of my plan is to boil “bean bean” (soya bean) for her. There is no exception this time. Therefore, I took the picture of the process of making it and decided to share it out in my blog. It is as easy as A-B-C and 1-2-3.

You need :

500g of soya bean
750ml to 1 liter of water
Blender
Clean cloth / Special cloth bag
“Pandan” leaves
Sugar

Prepare the beans and rinse them a few times. Soak them overnight or at least 8 hours. Wash the beans again the next morning.

If you have the proper machine (like me), your work will be simpler. If you do not have, use a blender. Put a handful of beans and some water into the blender and blend it until it becomes watery. Pour them out and put it aside. Repeat the process until all the beans are done.

The soya bean is already half complete, but there are a lot of “hampas” inside the soya bean. You need to filter them out with a cloth or a special cloth bag.

Take the piece of clean cloth and spread it on the top of another pot. Pour the soya bean onto the cloth to filter it. Repeat the steps 2-3 times.

Put some “pandan” leaves for fragrance or a slice of ginger if you prefer. Pour more water if the soya bean is too thick.

Boil the soya bean and stir it continuously. Do not stop for more than 30 seconds, if not, the soya bean will have a burnt smell.

Boil and stir until the soya bean is boiled. Add sugar and you are done.

Serve it hot or cold.

Hope the instruction I give is clear and sufficient. If you have any doubts or questions, do contact me.

NeeNee alone can drink the whole flask, all by herself. The flask is about 2 liters, I think.

NeeNee’s Sushi

April 18th, 2005, Jason

Warning : This is a 50% “shiok sendiri” post.

I went back to Tampin for NeeNee’s sushi. Yeah, she did it. Among all things, she made sushi for me. Ok, it is not actually sushi, but some modified sushi. But who cares, the main point was she made something for me to eat.

Honestly, when she told me she would like to make sushi for me, I was not very looking forward or putting much hope on it, as out of 10 things she said, she could only do 1 or 2. In order words, she is the kind who is “memang tak boleh harap punya” (cannot rely on). However, she really did it. I was really touched, just that I contained them so that she would not get too “kembaaaanggg”!

I went into the house and greeted her dad and her sis politely. I still do not know how to greet people who are younger than me though. I talked a little bit to Yen Nee – NeeNee’s elder sister while NeeNee took out the sushi for me. Her mum came out from the bathroom not long after that and I greeted her as well. Jason is a polite boy, full of manners, ok! –coughs-

Her dad came in and said, “Why every time he comes is to help you only?” (The only time I would go inside her house is when I am needed to fix her computer.)
NeeNee fought back and said, “No lah, he comes here to eat only, this time.”
Jason made a retarded smile.

NeeNee’s sushi. It is made of bread, crab meat stick, celery, eggs and seaweed, with all the ingredients rolled into a cylinder and then cut into pieces.

NeeNee cut (poke) her finger while cutting a mango for dessert for me after the sushi. Now I know why her mum does not let her learn how to cook. -lol-

NeeNee’s Sony Ericsson K700i. This phone got special meaning to her.

I spent about 90 minutes in her house and managed to talk quite a bit to NeeNee. The awkward and silent moment did appeared but for a little while only. Before I left, I greeted her mum again.

Her mum said to NeeNee, “He still so that unnatural.”
NeeNee laughed and I gave her mum another retarded smile.

Whenever I go to her house, there is a pressure inside me and I am not very comfortable with it. Therefore, I always act very unnaturally. Her mum has been saying that since the first time I stepped into her house. –grins-

Nee,

Thank you very much for your effort and time to make the sushi for me. I am very touched as well. The sushi tasted really good, even though it is not as good as Sushi King or does not have fancy stuff with it, it still tasted good. No, I am not bias. Heh~! Thanks, babe!

Since I am the only one who got to eat the sushi, so I decided to share something with you all as well so that you guys/ladies will not complain that I am just “shiok sendiri”-ing.

NeeNee’s round and firm butt / ass.

Ok, it used to be higher quality last time. NeeNee is going to kill me when she sees this. I better find a place to hide or leave her house before she sees this picture.

P/S : I am blogging this from NeeNee’s house and with NeeNee’s computer. The previous post was inspired by Adeline.
