My Part Time Jobs - Part II

Please read My Part Time Jobs - Part I before you proceed.

After I started studying in MMU, I continued working during weekends in the same shop. I was not a promoter anymore, but a delivery boy. I would follow the 2 Indian workers to deliver beers to restaurants and shops. Occasionally, we would attend functions like wedding dinners and temple celebrations, which we would just prepare chilled beers for the guests. The pay was RM30 per day and RM25 per function. The money I earned was my extra pocket money to support my hand phone credits and my expenditure when I was in Malacca throughout the week. No more holiday trips for me and I was having a difficult time in MMU that time as well. I worked for him for nearly 2 years, every weekend and every trimester break. I saved most of the money which later I used to buy myself a new Nokia 6100, a 15″ LG LCD flat panel monitor L1520B, a Logitech wireless desktop set (It was originally a MX Duo but got replaced with LX7 because of this accident.) and a new set of speakers (I upgraded from 2 satelite speakers to a 2.1 speaker system - Sonic Gear Ego II.). I spent nearly RM1700 on all these gadgets that made up my computer today. RM1250 (RM950 - RM1000 currently) for the LCD monitor, RM375 for the desktop set and RM150 for the speakers. My mobile phone was priced at RM1070 (RM500-RM600 currently) at that time, July 2003. I had no regrets for spending nearly RM2800 for my own lust(?) and desire.

Then, in year 2005, I took up my 7th part time job as a sales assistant and half computer technician in a computer shop. The pay was RM2.50 per hour and I earned about RM1600 in 4 months time. I have blogged about my working experience and life in this computer shop in here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here. Do not bother to click on the link but I suggest you to click on the last link as the last post was a post dedicated to my stupid boss. I learnt a lot of stuff throughout the 4 months, from setting up a computer from scratch to installing software for customers. Yes, it takes a little bit of knowledge to install software for the customers. Not only that, I learnt how to troubleshoot some minor software problems and also learnt how to deal with troublesome customers. I certainly gained quite a lot in this part time job. Now, you might be wondering where did the RM1600 go? I shall not disclosed that in my blog but a few readers of “Jason Mumbles” do know about it.

Congratulations for reading my resume from head to toe! Ha! As you can see, for each and every job, I have a dream, a target or a goal to achieve that made me went through all the hard work just to get the things that I wanted. My parents have taught us to be independent (My parents “dumped” me alone at home when I was 5 years old while they went out to work.) and work hard for the things that we desire and I am proud to say that I am capable of doing it. My parents bought a new house from themselves too early this year because they felt that it is time for them to enjoy life in a more comfortable house and also to spend their hard earned money. I could not agree more. -smile-

Oh yeah, I am planning to get a new mobile phone for myself. My Nokia 6100 has shown the sign of aging and more and more sickness / diseases are attacking her after standing strong for nearly 20 months. It is time I pass her to my sister (I am evil.) and get a new girl friend for myself. I am currently eyeing on Sony Ericsson’s K750i which I estimate it will cost me about RM2300 and may be RM1700 after 3 or 4 months. I shall be working for it. So, anybody is willing to employ me for a duration of 1.5 months? I have my own transport, accomodation and willing to learn new things, Malacca is most preferable though. No book shop, please!

LOL. Sorry I’m not some prospective employer on the hunt for a worker but ANYWAY, I like working part time too! =D I worked during the last school holiday. The pay was soooo good! (RM 1200 in a month!) But the job was the most boring job you could ever find on earth. Don’t even ask me what it was, lol. And I want to work in a bookstore you know. I still do even after MPH declined my application the last time!! Heh.

[…] I have been offered a part time job at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Jusco Melaka. Allison referred me to the branch manager last week and I was told to wait for their call. With my part time jobs working experience, I was short-listed and they gave me a call today. […]
