I Am A Bad Boy

Quoted from my previous post “Jokes from Engineers” :

“P/S : A little bored of typing a medical student’s medical report module on “Hand Deformities in Rheumatoid Arthritis“. This bitch is so lazy until she came into our shop and paid us to type her report. My boss handed me over the job. I was pissed and I decided to give the medical student a living hell by putting a typo error in each sentence, so that she would need to do checking and correction line by line, which is even more tiring than typing everything out by herself. -evil grins-”

Supposely, there was nothing wrong with this paragraph as I was just trying to be evil and to teach her a lesson so that she would depend on herself to do her own work instead of relying on other people by just paying a certain amount of money. However, there was a visitor who disagreed with me and for the first time, a visitor “scolded” me in the comment box. Since it was my first time, I decided to blog it out since he/she took the opportunity to deflower my pure and innocent blog or leave some stain on my white and angelish blog. -Sniff sniff-

Dhana said,
“Bitch or no bitch, she did pay to get her report typed. You can call her lazy if she simply plagiarized her report (which did not seem like the case). Personally, I find what you did really unethical and a tad too childish.”

Oouch, that hurts! Jason, the good boy was labed as unethical and childish by an unknown person. Although I am not as matured as Mun Kit although I am elder than him, but I do know what am I doing. I was thinking about her comment whether what I did was wrong or not. At last, I did not agree with her. Why? Here are my points.

1) It is our own responsibility to do the work that is assigned to us.
2) I do not know the exact spelling for the medical terms.
3) It does not make sense to pay somebody to do a work that is meant for us.
4) Her hand writing is so ugly that I have problem reading them. She is on the way to become a doctor, remember?
5) She expected me to complete the work as if it should be ready to be passed up when I finished the work and passed her the diskette, including with the scanned diagrams.
6) I wanted to teach her a lesson for being such a lazy bitch.

Not long after that, visitors came to my blog and replied her comment after I made it a slightly small scale “Hu-Ha”.

JxT2J said,
“Dhana, this is his blog and he can say whatever he wants. Yes, she did pay to get her report typed, but that does not restrict him from ranting about it. Besides, he did not publish the identity of that bitch.”

Mun Kit said,
“I think the medical student should not just pay somebody to write her report. It is what she is supposed to do anyway in the first place. Sometimes, we cannot shake off our responsibility just by paying.”

5xmom a.k.a Auntie Lilian said,
“Haha! Dhana, is life worth living going around telling people off in their blogs? Come on, does not that make life miserable for you? If Jason wants to fuck-up, let him. It is after all his blog and he can choose whom he want to screw. And I do find it appalling that this girl, whoever she is, is doing what Jason said. The only person whom has the right to tell Jason off is Jason’s boss. If I am Jason’s boss, I will probably tell Jason ‘Niameh, I paid you a salary to do the job, you do it well.’”

Earthtone said,
“May be Dhana does not know Jason well. He thought it is vicious to do that. But I tend to think Jason got a point. This will teach her money cannot buy hard work. This is suppose to be her work. What kind of attitude is she going away with? That because she can pay, she can get other people to do things for her. Including things within her area of responsibilities? When we were young, my little brother’s friend was punished to write some things in school and he paid my bro 10 to 20 cents to do it for him. When I found out, I made him tear off what he had written and return the work to his friend. No way money should help problem in these cases. As for having paid and gotten back a piece of work full of errors - that is the price she pays for this lesson.”

Twinsmom said,
“This time, pay for typing. Next time, pay for writing report. Then, later on, pay for someone to sit the exam for her. Then pay for diploma. Then, Dhana one day pay for a huge price to get a fake doctor. Muahahaha…”

See, these people are just way too cool. Dhana, if you are reading this, think about it whether what I did was right or wrong. However, I am not expecting you to accept our ideas or opinions, but it is worth thinking after all, am I right? It is still up to you to decide and to believe in what you believe. I am sorry if I offended you directly or indirectly.

The peoples that I mentioned above are cool bloggers and most of us read each other’s blog, exchanging opinions, cranking jokes or teasing each other in each other’s comment box. If you have the extra time, do visit their blog by clicking on their respective name and I am very sure that you will enjoy reading them just like me or you enjoy reading my blog (if you do). Thank you for standing by my side. I feel so “kembanggggggggggg” now!

The bitch came and collected the work this afternoon. Later in the night, she came to the shop to complain about the work.

“Adik, banyak kesalahan dalam kerja lah! Kamu juga tidak tolong ’scan’ diagram kat dalam folio tu pun!”
“Ya kah, tak tau oh. Saya taip sangat laju, tak perasaan lah. Lagipun, tulisan kamu terlalu mirip doctor lah, saya amat susah payah tengok tulisan kamu. Lain kali, kamu mesti berjaya jadi doctor punya kerana tulisan kamu sudah membukitikan. Dan tu semua ‘medical term’, saya tak tau ’spell’ lah.”
“……”
“Itu diagram saya ada ’scan’ dan ’save’ kat disket yang biru itu. Tapi saya rasa disket yang kamu kasih itu ada sikit ‘problem’ lah. Tak ape lah, kak. Tu diagram banyak senang lukis mah, hanya berapa tulang-tulang sahaja ma!”
“…… Tapi saya tak puas hati dengan kerja kamu. Tak ape lah, saya balik dulu.”
“Terima kasih. Kalau ada masalah, datang lagi ya!”

Now, am I a devil or what?

P/S : My boss just opened one eye, closed one eye.

Updated at 1:17AM.

April once again showed me something that I neglected. She is the one who always enlighten me. My fellow blog readers and visitors, you should drop by her blog to see what she has to say regarding about this matter in her own point of view. Do not flame her, ok? She is a very meaningful friend of mine and always guide me whenever I am lost.

I did not really put a typo at each and every sentence just to make her life difficult. What I did was, I “tikam”-ed the spelling for all the medical terms due to her bad hand writing. Another thing was that she did not tell me how she want it to be typed, like the font, font size, spacing, alignment and other stuff. So, she might spend some time in editing the format instead of checking out for typo. I am not that bad, ok? There were not as horrible as you think, the typos were the medical terms. I swear!

I think people are missing the point here.. dhana was just expressing his opinion on the blog and he did not come across as nasty. Granted there are a lot of loyal Jason friends and they are there to defend Jason, but surely if one has a different opinion doesnt mean they cant express it here , can they Jason????

Romantic - Nice to see you again. :) Of course, they can. You know, it is the first time got visitor who actually gave me a negative comment by calling me childish and unethical. So, since it is the first, of course, I would like to blog about it. She was refering my attitude in completing the job while we were refering to the medical student. :) She/He does have a point there, I agree but I do not have to follow what she/he says. Anyway, April said something in her blog and enlightened me. I know how to handle such things in a more proper way. Don’t worry, ok? This will be the first and only time I will post up people’s comment like that. :) Thanks for your compliment.

MunKit - What one night stand ah? -.-” I would prefer to give her good service, but she got to learn as well. :)

Dear, dear Jason I am Dhana, the person whom you thought “insulted” you. In fact, you were so riled up till you had to devote a whole post on my “unwarranted” comment. Jason, my apologies to you if didn’t like what I said. But, I was not judging or insulting you Jason, instead I merely wrote a comment on what I thought of your actions (I didn’t realize I was too harsh for your liking). And yes, you do not have to agree with me. After all, this blog is your realm and you have a right to say whatever you desire.
5xmomI read your blog and I love it. You have a really adorable toddler … and you bring my Penang to me since I can’t get it to very often. On the other hand, I wasn’t telling Jason off, I merely aired my views (which I am sure is not wrong) Why am I only responding to 5xmom’s chide? —I love her life philosophy :)

By the way, I am a girl everyone, not a “HE”.
Calm down everyone, I did not clobber Jason. I just wanted a friendly online tussle with him.

Ok, this is calm not not meant for quarrel ok? - friendly online tussle. :P

I think when Dhana called Jason unethical for doing what he did, we are coming in from two different points. She thinks a contract is a contract and it should be honoured in the expected way.

We are however of the idea that if the contract is NOT ethical itself to begin wif, then the contract is not worthy of honouring.

In law, you call this coming to courts with clean hands. If you want to establish you rights in the contract, you yourself have to be right in the first place. We are just saying she wasn’t right to begin with. But it’s not legal wrong, it’s moral wrong. :)

So, we are not attacking you, Dhana. It’s your point of view we disagree with.

Let me blog this, Jason. I can express better than way. It is rarely I get nasty with not one but two commenters within hours. (Twinsmom/Juniortok).

As Dhana may have noticed, I did agree partially that what Jason did MAY be not exactly be right. However, it his rights to express what he wants to express in his blog. But you did a very ‘gentlemanly’ thing - come back and clear the air. Cheers!

i think dhana is right. the action is indeed childish. the medical student paid u to type it. of course they have to do their work - research and all, but all that has been done. she’s probably bad at typing; not as fast as others, probably a measly 5 wpm, that’s why she has to spare her cash to get someone to type for her.

to her credits, she did her work. the research and the paper part, which is what she’s supposed to do. typing it out is just a medium in which you need to present your work. so you cannot say that she’s not doing her work, you can’t say that you’re doing her for work her.

however, if she paid you to do her research for her, now, you have all the right to say that she’s lazy. but no, she didn’t. all she ask for is, to type her report.

and u typed her report, and even though she paid, you intentionally put spelling mistakes on every sentence, with malicious intent. she probably failed her assignment, and will have to pay dunno how much to retake the course.

do that make you sleep better?

u know, if i’m your boss, i will terminate u with immediate effect. if my customer came and pays us, and i ask u to do your work, and you muddles it up with MALICIOUS intent, then you’re totally unethical. it’s ok if it’s purely mistake like you didn’t know how medical terms are spelled. that’s not really an excuse because if you’re a diligent worker and you strive to give your best at your work, you’d search the net or find a medical reference. however, you provide a totally crap work, with spelling mistakes, and worse still, INTENTIONALLY and MALICIOUSLY done.

i have no idea why your readers are supporting you blindly.

how can you guys say the contract is not ethical? for goodness sake, it’s just typing, it’s not the entire project.

i’m proud with my 80wpm to 100wpm typing speed, but even my seniors at work, they type using two fingers. and it’s a hassle and it’s a burden.

you must remember that an assignment is to gauge your knowledge and research skills, NOT your typing skills. so some people has lousy typing skills, so they have to part with some of their money to compensate with that, so what? does that determine the marks that the person should get?

  17. MunKit
    March 5th, 2005 11:31

ryuu, yes i admit that jason is not fully correct in his actions, and i may no agree with him putting typo deliberately in the report.

but other than that, sound as they may seem, do you know that your arguments are based on a mere assumption that ‘the medical student cannot type’? how did you know she couldn’t type in the first place?

jason might think she’s lazy and therefore deserved a little lesson; while you so resolutely shot down his argument by claiming that ‘the medical student wasn’t lazy, she just couldn’t type’. did you know her personally to make such a comment? if you think jason’s assumption of she being lazy is wrong, what makes your think that your assumption of her being deprieved of typing skills will be any more correct that jason’s?

You said, “an assignment is to gauge your knowledge and research skills, NOT your typing skills.” Oh who says typing/formatting etc will not be taken into account in an assignment? Maybe I’m dumb, but so far in all the assignments, presentation makes up of about 10% of the total marks.

regardless of the aim, an assignment involves referencing, notetaking, and producing the report itself. They come in a package. And typing out the report is a part of ‘producing the report’. So i believe it’s her own responsibility to get the job done herself, not paying somebody off to do it for her.

If my argument were to stand, and if I were a damn good typist but suck at researching, is it justified that I pay someone to do my research and then i type up myself?

Being that she’s wrong in the first place, I believe you should seriously consider your stand again.

Enlighten me if I’m wrong. Thanks :)

wah this flame war damn keng.. anthony blogged bout you.. but i dono why it isn appearing in his blog.. but rss gimme this:

Dhana was the first to scold him. He was so taken aback, he decided to blog it, and that led to a lot of comments criticising dhana. Then Rhuu supported dhana, and even said if he were Jason’s boss, he would sack him.

Perhaps friends should not always approve. They should say they don’t like what a friend did. If the friend still thinks they are right, that’s ok too. As good friends they accept his decision. But each knows the position of the other. Who knows , much later one or the other may come round. They should be brave enough to disagree. Many fear the friendship will be lost if they voice disagreement; or feel a false loyalty to the friend.

This is a question of ethics. Is it ethical to accept money for a job, and not do it to the best of your ability, irregardless of what you think the morals of the person should be? If you don’t like the morals of the person, (apart from the fact that the morals of the person should not matter) then, don’t accept the job. In Jason’s case, he should tell his boss he cannot accept the assignment. Once he accepts it, he is bound to do as best he can.

Dhana - Thanks for still dropping by. I didn’t take it as an insult or anything. I was cool with it. The main reason why I took up a post on your comment and others is because you are the very FIRST person who disagreed with my idea and also scolded me unethical and childish. Since you are the FIRST, so I dedicated one post. Rest asured that this it the first and last time. There are no second first right? ;)

Anyway, I am glad that you voice out your opinion on that statement. Its just that you were thinking on the medical student’s side, while me was thinking about myself. You have stated your reasons and so did I. There is no wrong or right in this matter. It is how we see them. Ok? Anyway, I do not have any grudges with you. Peace. :) Lets be friend. About your comment, thanks for voicing out your opinion. :) It is not worth debating on who’s fault.

Earthtone - You got what I wanna say. So, when you wanna be lawyer? Give me your contact so that I can go “bong chan”, ok?

Romantic - :) Wise one indeed.

Mun Kit - Anthony Wong did leave a comment in one of my post before you know. I think he does drop by once in a while. But then, what he wrote, is very true indeed, am I right? I wonder why he remove the post. :) Thanks for supporting me indirectly though. :P

Ryuu - My “kai ma”/god mother ask me not to reply your commment woh. :) I believe in what she said is good for me.

5xmom - Hehe, your latest flaming post is a very good one. I supposed with your power in the blogsphere, you are able to produce a result better than me making noise here. ;) Thanks. IF Jason EVER get famous because of this post or wrong reasons, I am so sad. (Heart breaks.) We all sama-sama blog. One for all, all for one! :D Now, where is MunKit?

    My own comment :

Alright, consider this as an end. Didn’t know such a big hu ha would turn up just because someone commented differently from others. Anyway, Dhana, I am very glad that you still visit my blog after I blog about it. No hard feelings yeah. But anyhow, I still wanna say congratulations to you, for being the first commentor who scolding me in a nice and manner way, and also being the first person who managed to start a “word war” here.
