Half Boiled Eggs

Nowadays, I am staying awake throughout the whole night until 7 o’clock in the morning to study, play, blog and read blogs. Usually, I shall eat breakfast at 5 o’clock at the nearby market before I go to sleep at 7 o’clock. Breakfast is “Nasi Lemak” with lots of chilies, 3 half boiled eggs and 1 cup of Iced “Teh-O”. Every thing is good except the half boiled eggs. Apparently this old lady does not really know how to boil half boiled eggs.

The day before yesterday, she gave me 3 30% cooked raw eggs. I complained to the old lady. She took the eggs back and fried them! I was dumbfucked. I came to eat half boiled eggs but ended up eating 3 fried eggs. She even said that raw eggs taste better. Fine!

Yesterday, she gave me 80% boiled eggs. I complained again and she said 80% boiled eggs taste better. I was dumbfucked again. I really wanted to ask her which one tastes better, raw eggs or 80% boiled eggs since she said both also taste nice when she was finding excuses for her mistake.

However, there were few times she managed to get the right timing for half or 60% boiled eggs. But, recently, she has been making more and more mistake, spoiling my day and mood every morning, until today I decided not to eat half boiled eggs for breakfast! Urrrgggghhh~!

Ah Poh, please go back and do some experiment to get the perfect timing for half boiled eggs before you continue to spoil my wonderful morning. To all SAHMs out there or FTWMs who prepares breakfast or half boiled eggs for the family and children, what is the exact timing and perfect method to boil half boiled eggs? Do people still eat breakfast at home nowadays?

Side note : A half boiled egg is not less in the calorie count than a full boiled one. It is rich in various nutrients including a whole range of fat soluble vitamin world. Egg is naturally rich in iodine, phosphorous, biotin and protein. The actual nutritional value of an egg and the proportion of various b vitamin is affected by dietary boron supplementation of hens.

    prepare hot boiling water.
pour it NOT directly on the egg.
    close the lid.
    wait for 7 minutes.
    :)
    run under cold water.
    break the shell.
    add soy sause and pepper.

    *immitates twinsmom* –Yummy!

    munkit is right :)
it’s okay to eat half-boiled eggs, but moderation is equally important.

try to get those which are low in collesterol level :)

if you want fool proof method, go and buy the plastic thingy (don’t know what it’s called) that’s specially for making half boiled eggs. it has got sieve-like minute holes at the bottom (to let water drip into another holding container); all u have to do is put the eggs in the container, pour boiling hot water to just cover the eggs, cover lid. wait till the water drip until dry, then the eggs are ready to serve. can never fail.

I advise you not to eat so many eggs a day…high cholesterol lah. One egg a day enough lah.

About making half boil egg, there is this ‘container thingy’ (dont know exactly what is it call) especially for making half boil egg. Just fill the container up to the level marked (depending on how many eggs you want to put in), then just wait for the water to drip out of the container completely….and it’s ready to be eaten :)….best thing is you dont need to even be there to watch out for your eggs.

momof2 and mei gie : hmm…i never eat half boiled eggs at home one. too leceh lah. maybe i should go ask the ah po get one of this. i dun eat them everyday also but then hor…my principle is “eat first, die later.” hahaha

I have my personal preference on half boiled egg as well :-)

I dont like to eat half boiled egges made with the yellow plastic equipment.

    So I’ll do myself.

    1. Prepare boiled water, and off the fire.
    2. Put in the eggs, and cover the lid, exactly for 3 min.
    3. Open the lid, and leave it for another 1 min. ngam ngam~~ :-)

If the egg is relatively small, then cut down the duration a bit.

    That’s my personal preference haha

*sweats* ya-hor…takkan want the poh-poh buy low-collesterol eggs.
solution: resort to not eating the eggs-la (since it’s un-yummy and high in collesterol)

yeah, it normally works…-5 to 7 minutes :) depends in size of egg (as suggested by tien soon)
