My Boss
My boss is a not-so-successful boss. Why?
Lousy after sale service / customer service
Ex : There is this customer, a female who bought a Canon original colour catridge and she found it to be faulty. She came back to the shop to ask for exchange but my boss requested her to go to Canon Service Center to request for exchange by herself as he is not responsible for faulty catridge.
Very calculative
Ex : A customer bought the wrong colour catridge that is not suitable for his own printer. He has opened up the vaccum seal, in other words, the catridge has been exposed to air. The customer came and requested for a refund since he bought the wrong catridge. My boss said that he could not take back the catridge as it has been exposed to air and its very difficult to sell it. Both of them argued for bout 10 minutes. Finally, my boss said he would only give back 75% of the prize to the customer and the 25% is to cover his loss for that particular catridge.
Ex : Before employing the clerk,he said the post’s salary would be RM800 with or withtout experience. However, when this student who just finished her SPM came to work, she only got RM600 because the boss said that she did not have any working experience and she did not know how to use the UBS software.
Forgetful / Low Efficiency
Ex : Customer requested him to order a wireless modem router which could be done in 1 day or at most 2 days. My boss being a forgetful person, it actually took him 1 whole month to order that device after numerous reminders from us and the customer itself.
Ex : Customer wanted to buy a specific motherboard for his computer and requested my boss to order it. However, due to some reasons which I shall write later, my boss did not manage to get the job done but the customer managed to buy the motherboard all by himself and pass it to us to fix his new computer in 2 weeks time after numerous lame excuses given by my boss.
Does not trust workers
Ex : A lot of things could be done with less trouble if the only technician is given the authority to order stocks from the supplier instead of going through my boss. My boss does not trust the one and only technician who is the next most important person in this shop.
Ex : Whenever the technician goes out for servicing, he would hint him to be back before what time. If after a certain amount of time, he would call the technician to check his current location fearing that the technician goes out strolling around the town instead of coming back to the shop.
Irritating
Ex : A customer suggested nicely to him to consider of employing one more employee to handle / take care of the shop. In fact, our shop really should employ one more worker as sometimes the boss and the technician will be going out which will leave one person alone in the shop. He answered the customer back, “I employ one more worker and you pay the salary, OK?” which somehow made the customer did not feel nice.
Stingy
Ex : The technician wanted to burn all the useful programs into one CD to make his life easier. Mine too, since I do some technician work as well. He requested one CD from the boss and the boss ask him to buy one CD from the shop instead of taking from the shop. Mind you, the CD only costs RM0.90.
Ex : Chinese New Year is around the corner and he only gave RM50 “ang pau” to my another colleague and RM500 bonus for the technician. As for me, I shall get my pay tomorrow only. We shall see tomorrow. I am lucky enough if I get RM50 ang pau from him.
Stupid
Ex : The shop is back up by another computer shop, which has the same partners. However, the other computer shop always treat my boss like a puppet or a fool. They have been requesting him to sell those weird products or products that take ages to sell. They even “throw” 20 printers to him so that the other computer shop can hit the target set by Epson company and get bonus for that. After 5 months, there are more than 10 Epson printer being stocked in the shop. Not only that, my boss is required to sell educational software which I personally think that it is very lame and not suitable to be sold in a computer shop. In conclusion, he is the scape goat for another computer shop. Wait, not one, but two computer shops!
Ex : He does not know what product to stock in or follow the market trend. He would take in 8 different electronic dictionary just because there were 3 customer wanted to buy. He did manage to sell that 3 and another 2 after that, but he took in another 5 more after that and they have been lying on the shelf for weeks. He took in 10 MP3 players just because it was selling quite good during Christmas and New Year. As you expected, the MP3 players are still lying there and there are no customers who are interested with them.
This is what the technician and me observed after working for him for 4 months and 3 months respectively. Now, I start to wonder how long does the shop can survive, especially after Chinese New Year.
